  1. With everyone adding a one piece mag tube. Where are you finding the other parts needed to comply with the required US Parts? Thats why I choose the factory 2 rnd ext. I can easily take it off and install the limiter

    ATF-346, 58 FR 40589, July 29, 1993

§ 178.39 Assembly of semiautomatic rifles or shotguns.

    (a) No person shall assemble a semiautomatic rifle or any shotgun using more than 10 of the imported parts listed in paragraph © of this section if the assembled firearm is prohibited from importation under section 925(d)(3) as not being particularly suitable for or readily adaptable to sporting purposes.

    (b) The provisions of this section shall not apply to:

    (1) The assembly of such rifle or shotgun for sale or distribution by a licensed manufacturer to the United States or any department or agency thereof or to any State or any department, agency, or political subdivision thereof; or

    (2) The assembly of such rifle or shotgun for the purposes of testing or experimentation authorized by the Director under the provisions of §178.151; or

    (3) The repair of any rifle or shotgun which had been imported into or assembled in the United States prior to November 30, 1990, or the replacement of any part of such firearm.

© For purposes of this section, the term "imported parts" are:

    (1) Frames, receivers, receiver castings, forgings or stampings

    (2) Barrels

    (3) Barrel extensions

    (4) Mounting blocks (trunions)

    (5) Muzzle attachments

    (6) Bolts

    (7) Bolt carriers

    (8) Operating rods

    (9) Gas pistons

    (10) Trigger housings

    (11) Triggers

    (12) Hammers

    (13) Sears

    (14) Disconnectors

    (15) Buttstocks

    (16) Pistol grips

    (17) Forearms, handguards

    (18) Magazine bodies

    (19) Followers

    (20) Floorplates

The parts breakdown for the M4 Super 90 is:

    1. Receiver

    2. Barrel

    3. Bolt

    4. Bolt carrier

    5. Gas piston 1

    6. Gas piston 2

    7. Trigger housing

    8. Trigger

    9. Hammer

    10. Disconnector

    11. Buttstock

    12. Pistol grip

    13. Handguard

    14. Magazine body/Tube

    15. Follower

Replace 5 of those and you're gold. You do not have to have less than 10 parts.

  2.

They added a gas operating system to back up the inertia system which means just that not that the M1, 2 & 3 were inferior. In reality the M4 you bought isn't a military spec model so it doean't really matter anyway.

How would you know what I bought? You sure get offended easy

  3. Hello all! I just picked up an H&K/Benelli M3 locally today (at a local pawn of all places) and had a couple questions:

    1) It is a Heckler & Koch marked gun. I've seen references to these being "pre-ban." Does this actually mean anything since the sunset of the AWB?

    2) I need a new forearm for it. I found new ones at Brownells, but will forearms for the Nova's/Supernova's work as well? Or, are there any aftermarket forearms that will fit?

    3) Any thoughts on why the M3 isn't more popular? I admittedly stumbled across mine myself, but I was looking online afterwards and it seems used guns go for the same or just slightly more than the M1's.

    Thanks for your help!

HK was the importer for Benelli. So thats why the Hk markings.

The M3 is unique and only M3 forarm will work. The stock may be interchangable with an M1 ( I believe )

If you really want a all around shottie...try finding the 26" barrel & chokes for hunting...thats the ultimate package.

The M3 was hit and miss..the concept was great..but after some study..It was found beeter to be one or the other..semi or pump but not both.

Under duress it could create confussion.

If I stumble across another M3 at a reasonable price I would buy another

  4. I'm going to say the M4 is more consistantly reliable than the M2. I also plan on proving it, if you so require it.

I would add..if the M2 was such a great weapon, Benelli would not have to design a rifle from he ground up to meet military specs/requirements. M1,2 or 3 did not meet requirements.

I would also say all Benelli's are good in their own right..Its a matter of preferrence..Ford Chevy GMC etc

    I've owned M1's M3's & M4's they are all great shooters..but by far I like the M4 best..just my preferrence
