Where do you see CLP on this page?

Where do you see "CLP" on this bottle?

"Are you talking about the black synthetics? If so, then I can say without hesitation that Hoppes Elite (notice the absence of any mention of CLP here.... T-H) is great on them!

I use it all the time on mine and it makes them look brand new again.

You use bore gel on your entire gun?!"

"It's usually a case of infatuation. Don't worry, it will eventually subside and your hormones will be back under control"

Infatuation? At the risk of being called a low-brow sexist dog; the only people I have ever been/ will be infatuated with are women.

Wait a second! .......nagging argument about who is right, refference to hormones, Ohhhhh, I get it! ........ Tuck, you're a girl!

    My apologies Mam! :)

  2. Just wondering.

You seemed a bit slow on the uptake for a fellow Southerner.

I could understand it if you were from up North somewhere like maybe Uh-hiya.

Hmmmm.... slow on the uptake? After rereading your posts three times....... THERE IS NOTHING TO UPTAKE! Hoppes Elite is not a CLP anyway- there are at least 7 different elite products (I guess you could buy the seperate cleaner/oil/stain remover and mix them together).

I asked the question if anything would harm my stock, I did not ask what would NOT harm my stock, I have a pretty good handle on that.

What baffles me is why I am dignifying your posts with a reply? Can anyone answer that?

    :p

  3. Is this a good idea?

For home defense I was thinking of having my first shot a dummy round, that way as soon as I hear someone in the house, I can fire off the dummy round in my bedroom and hopefully they will go running out house, however they don't remaining ammo in the tube will be hot loads.

Is there down side? I can really do any damage with a dummy round, right? Where are the flaws in my plan?

Thanks, I really appreciate the help.

    Well...... you asked.......

The first flaw is firing off a "dummy" round. Unless you have a 5 lbs hammer in your gun that makes a ear ringing "click" when it hits the inert primer, you are not going to scare anyone unless they have bionic hearing. I would use blanks instead that makes a big boom- :)

...... no scratch that, I would go straight to #1 buck and make them all leaky and shortly then dead- remember the piece of shitte will do it again and it might be your sister or your mom's house next time. (ok, ok sgt cathy- OR your brother/dad) :D

  4. Yep, me and Forrest was born in GREENBOW ALAAAABAMA! :)

Actually I am from Selma, AL- lots of history there. But I do not have a perminant home of record right now. I am working 7 out of 8 weeks on the road.

"No, I am not saying that any and every CLP, solvent, hair spray, Febreeze, and RAID will not harm the synthetics. "

No Raid?! How do I keep the magazine mites and the bore beetles from infesting my gun?!!!!!!

  5. Hoppes Elite is a CLP product

So you are saying since Hoppes Elite does no harm, no other cleaner/lubricant/protectant (these could be seperate products, not just CLP) in the world will harm my stock?

  6. Nope, but thanks for the info about making them look new again.

I am asking if any cleaning/preservetive chemicals out there will cause harm to the black synthetics (fancy word for plastic) if left on them.

So anything that will soften/discolor/melt my M4 into a pool of goo is what I want to know about.

Hey 10Gauge, I think Tucker is talkin about your manhood! You gonna take that?!!

...... wait a second, the biggest hog leg I got is a .454! I am 66/100ths short! I must quickly get therapy for my insercurity issues and rush to the gun store to buy the biggest, baddest, most intimidating smoke pole known to man! (not neccessarly in that order, heII I think I will skip the therapy- to the gun store!) (That was for your amusement Mam- .... I meant SargeC)

    :D

Seriously though more power, if it can be shot accurately, is almost always better. .... and more fun!

"If you see me runnin- you had better catch up!"

  8. If you re-tap the holes to a bigger size, use high strength lock tite, and make sure all the screws are TIGHT (make sure the gunsmith uses the proper torque, which with me being of german heritage and all, is guedin-tite, aka german torque) I don't think it will go anywhere, the gunsmith will be able to tell you.

This makes me wonder about having the heavy MESA 6shot on mine though.

Of course if ya quit butt-strokin people that would help a lot! :D

  9. Along with the appropriate grease there is one other important thing-

Make sure you have the tube snugged all the way in, years ago when I got my first multi choke gun I shoot some clays the afternoon before dove season opened and shot pretty heavy on the opening day,

There was one thing I forgot- I, for what ever reason, left the choke tube unscrewed I am guessing around a quarter to a half turn.

Talk about a cast iron son of a gun to get loose! It doesn't take much of tiny crack to let the gunk in and then you are hatin life.

Double check them after cleaning and you should be fine.

  10. T-H,

Thanks for posting those instructions. I am pretty good at pin work. Do you happen to recall if there was a special punch size needed? I have a excellent quality 3/32" and 1/16" punches. Or is something smaller needed?

    You are very welcome-

I used a 3/32" punch- it worked like a champ. Just make sure it is not a "shorty"..... the tip of mine is 1.75" long and it was plenty long enough.

One benefit of going with the GG&G or TAC2 buttons is that you can take them off and return the gun to stock if need be.

    T-H

  11. I wanted to try to do it myself. I understand the GG&G unit is tough. Were you able to do it yourself?

    M1014,

That looks like a 1911 extended mag release. Where did you get it and how did it go on?

It is easy if you have three hands! :)

Actually it wasn't all that tough. Just go slow and careful

And they are all going to be the same proccess. This is listed below:

    1)

Break the gun down so you have just the reciever. (No bolt/trigger group)

    2)

While holding the bolt release assy from the inside with one finger, tap out the roll pin from the bottom. Be sure the reciever is supported and stable. Drive pin down until assy is completly free.

    * Note how the spring is situated before removal

    * Be sure you have the correct punch size or you could goon up the reciever or roll pin or both.

    3)

Remove pad from GGG unit. Take padless release arm/ spring and fit into place. Using new roll pin provided carefully align holes and tap new pin into place. You have to be aware of the "feel" of it- once you get to the far side hole with the pin the spring will try to push it out of alignment, gentle wiggle it until you feel the pin engage the hole. Drive pin until it is just below the lip of the top side hole. It helps to use a bright flashlight to check this. (I keep a Surefire EL1 in my gun tool box for just such occasions)

    4)

Replace pad and torque to the recommended tightness.

    5)

Function test using dummy ammo for fit and function.

Apply a coat of oil and you are set-

    Nuttin to it!

IF you are not comfortable with working on your own guns or don't have the proper tools, seek the help of a gunsmith. It shouldn't be to expensive.

    Good Luck

  12. 922r has absolutely no effect on those states that have AW laws. There are no pre-ban models of the Benelli M4/M1014 for residents of places like CT or CA to exploit. The fact that you are talking about a US made telestock for the M4 would not help these people in the least. Might want to refrain from mentioning 922r in that context, it makes a very confusing law that much more confusing to those that don't know.

OK my head hurts now, forget about any refference to any state- leave in the 922 stuff- people are interested in having a certain US part count- the US stock one of them.

And I personally don't think it is confusing-

  13. I have the police report already filled out including the serial number for MY STOLEN M4. Just waiting for you to finish tricking it out for me. (Hey, did I just say that out loud!?)

Here in good old Mass, the dealer fills out a Mass form F.A.-10 on each firearm purchase, just in case you forget the serial number, make, model, length ect...

It's done on a computer so they'll have all the information before you even walk out of the store.

What bothers me the most is the post card I get about a week after shooting at the range, from the state criminal history board, reminding me to clean my weapons! I really need to relocate.....

Where can I get a new roll of masking tape? My bayonet fell off the end of my Defense M1 S90 the other day while I was shooting?

OK, that is one of the funniest posts I have read in a long time-

This must be stopped, I am serious, tape faliure at a critical time is not a laughing matter and is the number one cause of "bayonet foot", a malady that costs the US tax payers tens of dollars every year.

Have you tried NOT putting the tape over the end of the muzzle that is directly in the shot path? What about scotch magic tape- it is invisible and would add "stealthiness" to your set up?

How about bread ties? That is what I use- :)

"Retreat?! HeII we just got here!"

  14. Here is mine I installed yesterday.

I actually was considering the TAC2 but GGG the piece "just goes better" with the GGG bolt handle. Altough why they did not use checkering on the face like they did on the handle is a mystery.

Any of those will work but the Arredondo unit looks a bit large for my taste. The GGG pad feels right to me and is of good build quality.

Are ya going to put it on yourself?

  15. Oh Ya...OH YA !!... Beat this.... I hold the all time record for an Army MP for firing consecutive single shots from a belt fed M60 machine gun. 8 shots !! Of course I'm not exactly sure why anybody would want to fire single rounds from a machine gun. What was the topic gain??

Large pickle barrel selection devise (M1917 bayonet)

    # of Quail taken: hundreds !!

Errr..... Cathy, while I am big fan of lycanthrope mitigation devices, watcha gonna do with the .38 bullet? I know it won't fit the .22 and unless there is a 12 gauge to .38 adapter you are not listing anything that will run with that fuel. I guess you could always bake a cake with it in it and trick them into eating it! :p
