Check out SureCycle Systems. They have the fix! Sounds like you have spent a lot of time and money to correct the issue. I suggest you call Jeff Hajjar, owner and explain your problem. He can send you the kit or you can send the gun to him and he'll make sure it works before you get it back.

I looking for a 26" or 28" black barrel for M1. Any suggestions as to where to find one?

I have both and they both perform the same. The only trouble I have with the M1 is sometimes I pull trigger to fast before action has a chance to cycle fully and causes the hammer not to reset. Other than that they both handle the same. I do have a short barrel on the M1 24", at first I didn't like but after floating in a drift and hunting from layout it is the only way to go.
