  1. Hey all! Still learning about Benelli in general so please be kind! :) My question is: On the M4 in particular, does the barrell have/or supposed to have, a serial number etched/stamped on it that matches the receiver's #? Or is the receiver the only part that carries the primary serial#? Thank you in advance for your replys! Best!

  2. The M4 is not an "Inertia Driven" gun so it does not have an inertia spring; it is gas-operated.

I was under the impression that the M4 operated on the 'Inertia' concept like other Benelli semi-autos, and that the 'gas assist' was an addition to its design in order to enhance the reliability of its action. Thanks for the replys thus far folks! Best!

  3. Greetings! Just wondering if anyone can give me an engineering overview as to why the M4 bolt carrier does not have an inertia spring (Like the M2) inside, cushioning it and the bolt? It looks like a whole lot of slamming steel going on without it! Especially with the gas assistance. Just a thought . . . Best!

  4. Greetings! I purchased my M4 last week, and I thought the same thing about the 'missing chokes'. I contacted Benelli's customer service via e-mail and the response to my inquiry was as follows: "The gun has only been spec'd for several years now with one choke

only..the literature on that gun about 2 years ago was mistakenly

printed saying 3..but it has always only come with one...sorry..."

So there you have it for what it's worth folks! Best!

  5. Hey all! Do any of you good folks possess information pertaining to the deciphering of the various labels attached to Benelli's shipping cartons? (The M4 carton in particular). Some of the abbreviation's meanings are obvious, while others are not. Thank you in advance for your replys! Best!

  6. The pistol grip is nice...but I feel that a standard stock is better since I am in NY and the pistol grip would limit me to 4+1 and would make it a crime to buy an extension or full length tube.

Greetings all! I just signed aboard here recently as I am the proud new owner of an M4. I've been poking around the threads and the above line caught my eye. I too, live in New York. My 'Off The Shelf' M4 has the pistol grip stock and is capable of holding 5 shells in the tube. (At least that's how many I can put in it 'comfortably' unless I'm 'overfeeding' it or something!) Is the member quoted above mistaken in the weapon's tube capacity, or am I 'overfeeding' her? As for the other legalities mentioned in the quote . . . I'll have to research those seperately. Anyway, "Thanks!" for reading as this is my first post! I look forward to enjoying the wealth of information contained herein, and to 'chatting' with all of you fellow 2nd Amendment supporters! Best!
