  1. ok so if the length of the barrel dosent really have anything to do with carrying the pellets any further or keeping your pattern any tighter fore longer it just helps your aim point ,or seight plane , what exactly does an Extended choke do compared to a flush choke ,are there any advantiges

  2. Trapshooter,

Thanks for the civil discussions and the invitation, but I think we both know that neither of us will be changing our opinions on current events. So I respectfully decline the invitation to debate elsewhere.

To the rest of the respectable forum members, I would like to apologize for my above outburst. I let the children get the best of me and lashed out.

They are now and forever ignored by me, because I simply don't have to deal with their ridiculous behavior. They are not my responsibility.

There are plenty of places on the net to discuss politics, and I may visit them sometimes, seeking meaningful debate with intelligent and respectful opponents, such as Trapshooter has been throughout this process.

But while on these forums, I will respect and abide by our host's wishes and stick to the subject matter which brought us all here.

and not trashing other countries:mad: thats not like you Tucker
  3. I joined this forum because I was fortunate enough to purchase a Benelli Shotgun and had hoped to gain information and possibly share information about guns, shooting sports, hunting, etc.; not so that I can read about two knotheads and their ego contest...so with that, I'm out! I enjoyed it while it lasted. As a high school principal, I can listen to this crap in the hallway and actually do something about it. Great guns...poor sports!
If you pick and choose some topics they arnt always talking trash and putting down my country, and other peoples ideas some of them actually have some good info on benellis and other interesting topics i think they just need to get out and hunt or kill something its been to long stay with it there are a lot of people here with a lot of knolidge
  4.

  8. I dont recall anyone saying you MUST shoot a 3.5 that is an option that is there and if there are more pellets well it betters your chances ,but some people say that a 20 gaudge is all you need well thats another opinion ,ultamitly its the individuals choice what he prefers , myself i like the 3.5 i dont always use it BUT its there when you want it ,and again that is just my opuinion

  9. We did Gumbo one year and it was a big hit. Also did some jambalaya that year. The last four or five I have gone to had steak or Chicken (or both) catered by a local restaurant.

A fish fry is pretty easy but time consuming when cooking for a bunch of folks.

One time we did salmon steaks in tinfoil and a baked potato on the barbicue . it was a hit at the archery shoot

  10. I was curious if anyone has ever used one of these short ones? The pad on my SBE2 is pretty beat up after 4 years of hunting. I'm thinking about one for waterfowl hunting when I'm wearing lots of layers.

    Thx

  14. Thanks for the answers. Both of you.

We're gearing up for this year's dinner and we're looking to reduce meal costs, but still have something that will be appreciated and valued.

In this economy, the days of prime rib may be over. :(

    Duck gumbo

  15. So, why do we have 3-1/2" chambers in a 12 gauge anyways? The answer is so that we don't have to have several different guns in our safe to do one job. When we were allowed to shoot lead at late season Canadians (the geese, not the people, although...) a 3" chamber was fine and the shot could easily reach the higher altitudes these birds were flying over areas without decoys.

Now we have steel and other non-toxic shot which is lighter than lead and does not compress and deform like lead did as it left the barrel. Because of that we have to use less pellets and they need to be bigger to have the same energy upon impact as the lead did. The best way to do this was to add some payload and powder to lob that payload up into the stratosphere where the gees fly. That is why the 3-1/2” 10 gauge was the gun to have in late December or early January.

I have a Remington Express Super Magnum that shoots these big old shells and yes, the recoil is more than a 3” but still manageable especially when there are birds overhead and I’m wearing extra layers! That said, when you’re launching 1-1/4 oz. of no. 2 steel shot at 1,625 fps, you’re gonna know you pulled the trigger but will soon forget it when that big old Canadian hits the ground!

The greatest thing about it is while I did go and buy a new gun I was able to sell my old gun to make room in the safe and I still can shoot all the 2-3/4” or 3” shells that are in stored in the ammo locker and I can continue to reload without adding that to the mix as well.

Remind me not to travel through your way late in the season
