  1. Oh sorry, when you said does the wad "do its job" I assumed you meant doing its job keeping the tightest possible pattern....which is the flite control claim to fame
  2. I tested the federal tactical flite control in my m4 with the modified choke. The patterns were very tight and half time the reduced recoil stuff ALMOST makes a single hole at 10 yards or so. The high velocity opened up the pattern a little bit to about the size of a fist . The reduced recoil stuff is almost too tight of a pattern for home defense imo so i like the full power stuff. Either way, the high velocity stuff still seems to shoot a tighter pattern than anything else ive tried including the hornady TAP...which i understand has the identical wad.....but is rated at 1600 fps...which is probably why the pattern opens up a bit...and also seems like it doubles the recoil. I would recommend trying them in your own shotgun to see what it likes...because they all seem to shoot different...which is why you will get so many opinions.
  3. True story...not making fun...but the first time i shot a M2 was my buddy's girlfriends 12 ga field which he had taken the stock and forearm and painted them a hot pink camo pattern. He had one of those fancy screw in choke/muzzle break combo thingys installed and it seriously felt like a .22. Needless to say i ran out and bought one and what do you know, mine kicked a ton more. I would like to think that the pink camo wasnt taming the kick....but there is something to be said for those muzzle breaks if you find yourself flinching when you go to pull the trigger. Or you can do what i did and put 1000 rounds through it and just get used to it....its still a sweet shotgun
  4. Did you disassemble and clean/lube it before you took it out? I would suggest that with any gun...both to learn about it and also to ensure it is in proper working function prior to shooting. Mine shot 1 oz loads first time out....and has never failed to cycle anything for me yet. I would suggest just making sure everything is well lubed and clean
  5. prolly about 5/16 to-3/8 short
  6. I have been running hornady TAP buckshot through my M4 and fiocci for cheaper blasting ammo and they have both run fine and I have been able to get 7 in my tube from kip with the premium spring. Today I patterned the federal tactical w/flight control and was sold on it pretty quickly. My problem is they are slightly longer than the other two rounds and only 6 fit in my tube.....has anybody else run into this problem? Has anybody cut down the spring that comes with kips tubes? If so, did you have any problems? Also how many coils did you have to cut? any help would be much appreciated...thanks:)
  7. Yeah this thread even shows some guys with the winchester version with foriegn stamps on them. I havent seen anywhere stating they are stamped made in the usa...but even if that was the case...there are obviously some imported ones out there....its a paradox http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=72016&pid=835322&st=0entry835322
  8. where did you see that? The only info i have seen says they are built by FN in belgium and that fnh usa is just the marketing and sales part of the branch? I have also heard some of them also have built in portugal stamped right on them
  9. I still want to know how FN imports their SLP shotgun...it has an 8 round capacity. It is obviously not meant for sporting purposes...it has police shotgun in the name!
  10. Installed my tube today. I must admit the fit and finish are awesome...and i noticed the different sound too. Used a 9 dollar throw away heat gun from harbor freight tools, took about 15 minutes. Oh and as for the q tips and acetone, the minute the tube came off...i shot some CLP on the end of the toothbrush and made 2 circular passes across the threads while they were still hot, and they were clean as a bone. off to the range tomorrow. Thanks Kip
  11. well kip called me today to say that i was the oldest outstanding order he had on the books and that my tube shipped today. He was very humble and apologetic, so I imagine most of you guys will be getting your tubes soon
  12. Oh yeah ive heard the shipped by the end of the week thing several times too...but what can ya do. I will just hang in there and hope it was worth the wait
  13. nope, I ordered april 10th ....will be 12 weeks in 3 more days, unless my math is jacked up. Oh, and just to razz ya a bit , not to be mean, but to lighten the mood:) it takes all of 90 seconds to put it back together, so you dont see all those pieces layin around
  14. If it makes you feel any better, I have been waiting 12 weeks now, and was billed about 9 weeks ago. I am hesitant to get too mad because I have heard the product is fantastic, and I am not really losing anything by having the stock tube on for a few more weeks. If you think this has been a long wait...take a look at even large gun companies right now....stag arms is giving a 25 week lead time for most of their products right now...i talked to kip and he seems like a good guy...maybe he will remember me next time I want to order something and hook me up....but I have to think..paying for overnight shipping on a 185 dollar tube.....he would be losing money
