Sorry gang, I had one and loved it, but I could never work through the FTF issues completely enough to think I could trust the lives of my wife and me if need be. I finally got the old GI 20 round magazines to feed pretty well, but every shot I was looking to see if the weapon went to battery. The build quality was excellent, operation was smooth when it fired (!) Be advised on the front end no one makes any accessories for it. The Benelli rails (optional) are plastic; however, the fore end is also plastic - and I defy you to try and break it. Finally, when I bought mine, the world looked like a short term proposition, as we know it. Still does. I decided if the MR broke, I probably didn't want to wait for the factory to send me a part. I wanted something I could resupply from "battlefield pickup." Huge in the military to pick up another weapon you already know, and keep going. You won't find parts for an MR1. I am not trying to discourage anyone, and this thread is old - so probably wont. I will say it was the best feeling rifle to hold and shoot I ever had - however, the caveat: no possible cheek weld. The shotgun angle of the stock to receiver drops off too fast. If you mount an optic, your face will be off the sight to see through it. OK, that's what an infantry guy thinks of the rifle - loved it - but not for serious work.

One possibility is the "Target Sports Tactical" model "TAR206." It is not tall, so it gets less banging around, and a great feature to me is I can actually see the original sights right through this thing. The dot is green. It also has a built in red laser, and is only about 65 - 75 bucks.

Two quick things: 1) is the barrel lock assembly seated - as in as tight as it will go, and 2) are you cocking the hammer back before you begin to unite the two parts? Not sure the barrel lock would impact assembly, but the hammer would; and variables are few.

I have edited the thread, and done 25 laps around San Antonio with an M4 held high, barefooted, and running backwards. OK? Maybe goofy stuff like that is why we're Junior Members.

Me either - because I already have the M4 stock mounted, and its great! My understanding is the later MR1's all have the notched recoil spring tube, and mine was so notched, so the conversion was about 5 minutes, after trimming the pistol grip portion to accept the MR1 trigger guard.

I Installed the Hout's Enterprises trirail mount for the CX4 on my MR1 [ATTACH=CONFIG]1182[/ATTACH]

Today I mounted a GG&G rear sling attachment point on my MR1, which might not be a big deal other than they don't make one for the MR1! (and neither does anyone else that I could find) Instead I took a chance and ordered one for the M4. All that was necessary was to drill two small holes for the dowels to pass through, and take a little metal off the sides where the MR1 body is a little more narrow, and take a little off the leg length. I would be remiss if I failed to mention the dowels do not go into the back of the receiver, however they pass completely through the sling mount, and the sling mount is held in place by the trigger housing. Also, I have replaced the original stock on mine with a different Benelli stock. Actually, I'm not so sure we're connecting on this point. Here's the exact wording of the law that has everyone stirred up: 18 U.S.C. § 922®, specifically states the following: It shall be unlawful for any person to assemble from imported parts any semiautomatic rifle or any shotgun which is identical to any rifle or shotgun prohibited from importation under the…[GCA]…Section 925(d)(3).as not being particularly suitable for or readily adaptable to sporting purposes …. Of course it rambles on for several more pages, but the crux is with the MR1, we are not assembling an "identical" rifle or shotgun which is prohibited from anything. There is no limitation on importation of the Benelli MR1. I believe we are pretty quick to run up the white flag on issues before we go read the entire provision (I have done that a couple of times in the past 2-3 days). I believe any good defense attorney would have a cakewalk with this case, because when he asked the first prosecution witness if they if they have read and understand the entire code - they're goners. If they say yes, then all he needs to do is ask them to explain this provision. As a final "twist of the bayonet" in the guv's gut, I bought my rifle from Academy Sporting Goods in Texas, bought the collapsible stock from a Benelli dealer, in the USA, and the owners manual clearly shows (verbiage and diagrams) exactly how to remove and install this stock on my weapon, and both the owners manual, and parts manual include the numbers. (By the way the recoil spring tube was pre-notched at the factory for this stock) I don't want to come off like some kind of smart aleck, but it's time for gun owners to start learning the letter of the law - because that's hat we're held to. It's my understanding that no one has ever been prosecuted for violation of this statute on it's own. I don't know about that, but I would bet my case on the prosecutor relying on what someone else told him this law says - not what he's read. Laws are to protect the common good - so let's start using them that way! - Chuck

I actually did this in my MR1 today. Used a Dremel with a steel cone, and the work was quick, and neat. Love the way the handgrip screws onto the threads of the recoil spring tube. Very solid, and I just happened to have exactly the right size drift to fit the holes on the nut. One thing I did learn is there is no need to remove the butt pad on the new stock. However, if you do, it's held on by two number 2 phillips accessed through tiny holes in the pad. Benelli people probably know that, but the MR1 is my first foray into Benelli Land. The job took about 45 minutes - 15 of that was looking at all the parts about 10 times. Also, the locking plate, the lock washer, and the bolt is not needed for the new installation. I wanted to store the bolt screwed all the way into the spring tube, but I put a small phillips screw driver in the hole, and the recoil spring plunger touched it when I cocked the weapon, so one can be sure it would be damaged in live fire. Finally, it takes a mighty heave-ho, and a hi-yo-Silver to depress the button to mount the stock on the tube. Once you get it over the first bump, you're good to go. I love not having to unscrew a bolt to remove the stock, which could hold lots of cleaning equipment inside. Phew!
