I don't care for the FDE either. Do you happen to know which of the Cerakote is closest to what the non-Cerakote components are today? There are quite a few dark matte colors. What did the Cerakote service cost for your M4?

I picked-up a used M4, the receiver is pretty rough and I would like to have it refinished w/Cerakote. Looking for recommendations for local shops in Las Vegas that produce solid work. I don't like the look of the Dark Earth thinking about a flat black, perhaps something comparable to the factor color. Any suggestions?

I got my M4 third-hand. The second owner did not know what the first owner did. What I do know is that they did not treat it like a $1500 investment. The receiver has seen better days; it looks like it slid around in the bed of a truck for the last two years. The receiver is a mess and ugly. Yeah it is a functional weapon but I would like to have it look better.

I called Benelli about re-anodizing and they suggested ALUMA-HYDE, a rattle can paint. http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=1119/Product/ALUMA-HYDE-reg- I don't really want to paint my receiver ...

I was leaning towards Robar as they do a lot of Benelli work. Their flagship product NP3 (H2O) is pretty cool. I don't want a shiny matte finish though. I heard Cerakote is better than Duracoat.

I am considering refinishing my M4 receiver and weighing the options. The options are re-anodized or Robar's Roguard coating.If you were me, would you have it reanodized or go with Robar?

Can someone explain how the collapsible stock is mounted/fitted to the 11707? ANy special tools required or does is bolt right on? Also - what is the going price for a new 70085 in the box?

What is the finish on the M4 receiver? Benelli states "matte hard-anodized". It appears to be painted, not coated. What is the finish on the barrel and magazine tube? Mine is slightly greenish, not completely black. Is the barrel parkerized or? Somewhat odd, the very end of the barrel, maybe 1.5 inches is much darker than the rest of the barrel. It is almost in a band so I know it's factory made this way. I've been thinking about refinishing and would like to stay as close to the factory finish as possible.

What is the coating on the standard black receiver?

I bought it 3rd hand, the 2nd owner didn't know what the 1st owner did with it. He must have let it slide around the bed of a rust try for a year or two. There are some minor stratches on the left-hand side of the receiver, towards the bottom. It was $900 so I got a decent deal. I would however like it to look a little better. Per Robar's website, a complete rifle/shotgun parkerized or black annodized is $175. That's not all that bad. The receiver only is $75. The barrel on my M4 isn't all that bad, and being steel, I can blue it a little. I'll give it a once-over and decide if I should only have the receiver done. What are other companies similar to Robar?

The barrel nut on my M4 is all bitched up. Where can I order a new one? What is the part number?

Is there a surface prep procedure required? I am not seeing any change in the color with the B.C product.

I've got a bottle of Birchwood Casey "Aluminum Black" that doesn't do a thing. I used a degreaser but the product did noting. Is Alumablack different?

I picked up a M4 today, it has a lot of wear marks on the outside of the receiver. Not necessarily scratches, but on the corners where the finish has rubbed off. I tried gun blue but it didn't do anything. What is material is the receiver made out of AND is there any touch-up product that will clean the metal up? It is not a metal that reacts with the gun blue, that's for sure. Must be some crazy space-age metals.

quickdraw - tell me more about the New Frontier Armory in North Las Vegas. I am local (to Las Vegas) and in the market for an M4. Have any more details?
