  1. I was going to say the same thing StrangerDanger said but he beet me to it...?

The FFT handguards feel a bit cheap compared to the OEM version. Like SD said, they dont seat evenly together almost as if after the injection molding was done the pieces retracted or bowed a bit while cooling.

The oem also have a bit of matt finish compared to the smoother FFT copy.

I personally went back to the OEM handguards after I had acquired enough parts to be 922 comp.  I've tried just about every handgaurd for the M4 and at the end a well stippled OEM HG is the way to go.

I know this is an older thread, but I have to praise you on your instructions.  I couldn't find anything, anywhere, on changing the recoil tube assembly.  The tip on the taking pictures to ensure proper alignment of the new assembly was spot on, as well.  Thank you so much StangerDanger!

StrangerDanger has helped countless amounts of people with there Benelli's. I personally cannot count the amount of times I've referenced his material when I double guess myself or haven't a clue to begin with.  The amount of time it takes him to take photos mid process and type his extensive explanations is all to often over looked or taken for granted. Thank you Stranger Danger!

I've shared this photo before here on the forum, I dont know why it wouldn't show up on a Google search for:

    1014 recoil tube depth

    Benelli M4 recoil tube depth

    Benelli 1014 recoil tube depth

    Benelli M4 recoil tube picture

Maybe it will help someone in the future...

  3. Im having a really hard time believing people like him truly exist.

He's all over the internet as a self proclaimed expert in many fields and has a small following of ignorant people in each one of them.  He has rubbed many people the wrong way to the point to where he's been sued and even his life threatened various times.  Someone described him as a highly functioning autistic or idiot savant with the disability of being incapable of conversating with people. I would have to agree with this statement but that doesn't make him any the easier to digest.

He does an almost daily video on youtube as Theoria Apophasis, and the very day he was met with anger and disagreement here on Benelli Forums he posted THIS video in which I cannot excuse as anything other than the resistance he met on the forum. His arrogance is exhibited in all of his videos but this one is enough to make anyone with half a brain see through his thought process and even more disturbing are the supporters/commentors that hail him as a mastermind. ?

Grab a garbage can and watch this: ?

I use copper grease on threads and sliding parts, put on with a modellers paint brush.

    ....a modellers paint brush,....why didn't I think of that?

I use that TW25 grease (I think that's the name of it) and I can never really get it exactly where I want it and always put to much on. Ill try your paint brush trick next time javars!

And if you purchase a Carrier Comp mag tube, you'll get a Wolff spring and a follower in the package which gives you 2 of the 3 922r required compliant parts.  I bought both a CC and FFT tube.  I set the FFT tube on the floor while unpacking and it rolled a little bit and seemed to not be perfectly straight.  I set it on a flat desk top on rolled it some more.  Yup, it had a little bend to it.  I doubt it would make much of a difference in operation, but I was a little surprised by it.  The CC tube maybe had a little bend to it given the same test but it was barely discernable.  The CC tube is on my gun.

Very interesting. And I commend you on your attention to detail for most wouldn't even have noticed.

I think where it would be noticed the most is after the installation. After everything was put back together, oiled and back on the wall or shelf....And THEN you would see it one day while walking by. That perfect space between the barrel and magazine isn't perfect...

Depending on how the bent tube was seated, it would either bow outward away from the barrel or bow inward. Either way I'd be so freaking angry...?

  7. Anyone use regular motor oil as lubricant? I keep seeing this mentioned on other forums. Never tried it myself because I still have plenty of my regular stuff (Break Free). But when I run out imma going to give it a shot. No pun intended?

Over 5 years ago I acquired a Benelli M1014 which had apparently hundreds of rounds of slugs fired through it. The bore was covered with lead. I forget which solvent I used but I attached a Hoppe's #9 Tornado Gunsmith's brush to a single section of cleaning rod and then chucked that up in a cordless drill. Power tools rock. I cannot imagine how many hours cleaning that lead out manually would have taken except it would have amounted to 'lots.'

    Great trick!

Probably best on smooth bore guns though, I've been tempted on trying that with a rifled barrel from time to time but always chicken out. Lol

  9. Show us your range bag and it contents. ?

Bust it out and show us what you got, why you got it and why!

What kinda hearing protection you got?

What kind of safety glasses you sportin?

Gloves? Speedloaders? Trauma gear? Sight tools? Spoting scope? Multitools? Targets? Staplers? Brass catchers? Shot bag? Gun vise? ???

Go crazy! Spill it all out and show us how big your bag really is!?

  10. I hate even coming close to agreeing with Mr. Horse Stroker, but I think by putting anything other than a RMR up there you're flirting with danger.

Ive done my fair share of drilling and taping 6061 T6 aluminum and even though its Rockwell is better than what most would believe, its tensile strength sucks.

I have Permatex Ultra-Black between the receiver and the Scalarworks mount AND between the RMR to the Scalarworks. Wiped clean with a few Q-tips afterwards and you cant tell its even there.

  11. When you pull the trigger two things will happen:

    1. The hammer will fall.

2: A new round will automatically be thrown onto the lifter from the magazine.

When you manually rack it to eject the "fired" dummy round, all that should happen is

    1. dummy round gets pulled out of barrel and falls to floor

2.New dummy round (already resting and waiting on lifter from pulling trigger) should lift and slide into barrel as bolt is closed behind it.

  12. IMHO

Do it the right way and buy a full tube of your choice. Titanium if you can afford it, metal works just as good (stronger) but heavier. Daves metal works is a great tube.

The only reason to use a +2 extension is because you either plan on switching back and forth between a short barrel and OEM barrel,  OR you lack the ability/confidence to install a full length tube onto the receiver.

Any other excuse to go with a +2 is BS  "easier cleaning" ?    and is usually someone trying to justify not doing so to begin with.

Adding a full tube is not hard to do and instructions are ll over the web for doing so. Most of us here would be glad to help.

..but either way you decide to go, I would purchase a longer spring and trim as needed. The short spring may be just enough to work at home with dummy rnds, but at the range the inertia and extra weight of slugs......you may find yourself cursing allot.
