I'm really digging that 1301.  The OD green is looking sweet.  Thinking about selling my REAL H20 NP3'd M4 and starting over with the 1301 and a bare bones M4.

I don't want to tell you how to live your life, but I can't help but feel like you'd regret that decision. Is it irreversibly modified?

  2. I've seldom had hang ups with S&B sport slugs and maybe buckshot. I'd trust my life to a variety of Federal buck and slugs. Some cheap plinking ammo is fine but for training and reliability, I'd say it's like premium gas and exotic cars. Quality ammo for a quality gun.

  3. I get the concern but for something like an M4 I'm not too worried about the finish or any dings/scratches because the value of the M4 to me is purely in function and reliability in adverse conditions where the gun is supposed to take a beating anyways. Throwing it on stuff is unnecessary but laying it on a rock or it falling over or whatever really doesn't concern me. Something like a bespoke H&H handbuilt with fine wood and engravings treated like that though would give me a heart attack lol.

    Thanks BallChange.

I'm not looking to trick it out too much. I purchased the Benelli because it's an heirloom home defense gun, something I'll give to my grandson. It doesn't need rubber o-rings to function like the AR and I'll never have to worry about shot going through walls to hurt family members as long as I'm shooting #4 buck or smaller.

I'm adding 2 more things to it: a paddle style bolt release lever from RxArms that's gonna cover up my American flag :( and a sling from VikingTactics dot com.

I think military with my armory: I never have a round in the chamber unless I'm on alert. So my M4 is sitting there with 4 Nobili Sport Italia #4 buck in the mag and one on top of the carrier. These are some seriously powerful LE shells! 27 #4 pellets coming out at 1325fps! They're tall brass BTW so you can't get 5 in a 5rd tube, but as I said I'm getting the 2rd extension tube (today matter-of-fact) and I'm pretty sure it will then load 6 in the tube (they're not that tall) and have 1 on top of the carrier. In case you're wondering NSI also has some 00 buck shells with 12 pellets going 1290fps.

7 little 2 1/2" long cans of 12ga whoopass should be enough to deter a home invader or two. Hell maybe the sound of me racking that first one might send them a-runnin'.

Yeah, I don't like to alter the basic functions of a firearm, especially an expensive one. I like to keep things as OEM as possible. I've actually ordered the mag tube and paddle release from Rxarms because we're both in Canada. It's a simple piece, seems fine enough. I'd suggest a light, especially considering it's use in the house. I got an AVA mount with a SF 600 light on there from StrangerDanger and it sits perfectly in front of my left hand. I've heard good things about the IWC light mount too.

I had a mag extension and it wasn't ideal. Makes disassembly annoying having to get the spring in and out every time. Would highly recommend a 1-piece mag tube. Luckily you have lots of options in the states, with the catch of 922r lol.

I guess this gives me an excuse to post it lol. I'm hoping to switch to an entry, then it needs a velcro saddle, CompM5, and some paint and I'll never let er go.

  5. Bringing up an older thread, but figured after installing my 1-piece tube it was a good time to throw this out there.

Hoping to get an Entry within the next couple of months, and an Aimpoint CompM5. Will probably be adding an adhesive velcro side saddle on the Entry as well. In the meantime, this will do :)

  6. There's some frangible buckshot ammo available near me that I'm thinking of buying, mostly for the novelty of it, but also depending on the effectiveness for lock/hinge-busting and door breaching.

I was thinking frangible slugs would be the most effective but those are sold out, and a quick search shows its the only frangible 12ga ammo near me along with the buckshot. Does anyone have experience with these kinds of ammo? I'd be willing to get one or two boxes of the buck if they are actually effective in breaching-style scenarios.

    Thanks!

  7. The m4 is my first gun too lol!

What I did was, I thought to myself, why did I buy this gun, and if I had to depend on it with my life, what ammo would I run?
Any type of Federal slugs/00 or 000 buck worked well (both 2 3/4 and 3"), S&B stuff slightly less so. I also cleaned it after every range trip for the first few hundred rounds but dont bother as much now and it runs great with Federal ammo, so I stick with what works.

To me, its expensive, not because it's supposed to be treated like a fragile piece of art, but because the Marines (or a first-time gun owner like me) can beat the shit out of it and it looks good doing lol.

  8. There should be plenty about this online. One thing I read was double ear pro, I'm not sure if that's effective or not. Another thing to help see if your actually flinching is get someone to randomly load a dummy in the mag, and you'll see it. Other than that I'd just say practice practice practice and lots of dry fire until the click is instinct.

  9. Pretty self-explanatory...
If any of you run some, how do they perform? Or are they a bit gimmicky? Can't own em here up north.
