CarrierComp is what I went with.  Not sure what their lead times are currently, but I don’t think 2-3 months is uncommon.

others here seem to like the Briley carbon fiber, Freedom Fighter Tactical, and there is also a member in here that makes steel tubes as well.

I just spoke with them and the next batch from Carrier Comp will be June timeframe. They have a bit of a delay at the moment.

For this reason I went with the Briley Carbon tube. I did buy the CarrierComp magazine tube spring to put in the Briley. I've read mixed reviews about magazine capacity with the Briley magazine spring.

The ModLight has two bosses. These allow hardware to affix the light to the mount with screws from the inner side of the mount

I figured but didn’t see any pics of the holes in the light on their site. I appreciate the clarification.

The IWC light mount clamps onto the the steel barrel ring where the sling plate used to reside, not onto the mag tubes.

Makes sense. I appreciate the clarification.

Finally got around to upgrading my Benelli's and rifles to the new Modlite weapon lights. This has been an massive increase in output compared to the M600IB lights I was using. I had looked at doing the M600DF models, but I wasn't very impressed with the output. For the Benelli's, I went with the PLHv2 lamp heads since they have a little more spill.

With this upgrade I had to move over to the IWC weapon light mounts. I machined the tailcaps on the Benelli's to remove the shroud around the button. I'll get them Cerakoted eventually.

Any concern tightening the weapon light mount to the carbon tube? Could the tube be crushed or damaged from this mount? Did you install a rubber shim under the mount to avoid damaging the carbon fiber?

  5. Is it necessary to run 50 rounds of slugs or high powered buck shot through it first? I shot some trap loads through mine and it cycled fine. I couldn't resist and shot a box the night I bought it.

What do you guys recommend to shoot through it to break it in during this ammunition environment? With buck shot and other loads being so expensive I'm curious what else you would recommend for me to break in my gun with.

  6. Nothing better than being close to family. Safe travels to your new "home." I'm sure your daughter will enjoy having you around. Be sure to post pics one you are up in the "bush".

Break the Benelli in right and kill some game with it. Can't beat fresh meat from the wild.

Agree on benelliparts being the only reasonable place to find one.  I monitored their site everyday until a pre-order was posted.

How long did you monitor their site before getting in on the pre-order? It appears as if they haven't had a preorder in about a month or so. I'm curious when their next preorder will be.

  8. I am trying to find a 3 position collapsible stock. I have had no luck and refuse to pay scalpers $1,000. I am curious if anyone on here has one they are willing to sell or trade for my stock M4 pistol grip stock. I'll throw in some cash to make it well worth it :p  Thanks!

Got some range time yesterday. Surprise..... didn't think to check capacity before going to the range but turns out I could only get 6 rounds of 2.75" Federal slugs in the magazine. Performed just fine though. I didn't have time when I got home to investigate the reason but will get some time next week. I don't think the extended follower is the problem. It slides over the spring pretty easily so shouldn't take up any more spring length. I'll probably swap the FFT follower back just to make sure. I'll have to double check the spring provided by Briley with the tube. Definitely longer then the factory spring that came with the 5 round tube but that is expected. So other than cutting a full coils off the Briley spring anything else I should look for?

Were you able to identify why the capacity was limited? I'm considering buying the Briley CF tube for my M4.

It comes down to the weight you want. The titanium magazine tubes are going to weigh in around 5.5 ounces. The steel tubes are going to be about 8 - 10 ounces. The value of the NP3 on the magazine tube is mostly cosmetic. I haven't noticed much benefit from having a plated magazine tube. Carriercomp has a muted finish that is pretty close to the NP3 finish.

Another option is to do the Briley carbon fiber magazine tube that matches quite well. It's also lighter than the titanium tubes.

I have not considered the Carbon Fiber tube by Briley. Definitely another option to seriously consider. If I knew the FFT NP3 finish would match my H20 I would probably just go that route. However, I know the colors vary from batch-to-batch. So if it wouldn't match Id then rather have the CarrierComp version for Titanium (corrosion resistance) and reduced weight. Which match best in your experiences? Any issues with the NP3 coating on the FFT tubes?

The Carriercomp muted finish is close but not exactly the same as the NP3 finish. The Freedom Fighter Tactical NP3 finished magazine tubes are their steel variant, so you won't get the weight savings that the titanium tubes offer over OEM.

Another issue is, batches of NP3 vary from one to another. Most won't care about the slight difference unless you're seriously OCD, but it is one nonetheless.

Another option is to take the Carriercomp tube and have it coated in NP3. I'm doing that currently for a client. Robar says the NP3 doesn't adhere to titanium, but I know several people who have done it successfully. A nice NP3 finish on the inside of the magazine tube is going to sound and feel quite nice compared to the scratching sound of steel wire spring on the inside of a tube.

This picture compares a muted finish carriercomp magazine tube to a stock that I had coated in NP3.

If you don't want to do a coating, I'd still go Carriercomp muted finish all day long.

What is the verdict on the NP3 coating over the CompCarrier Ti Muted Tube? I am debating which direction to go for a 7-round tube for my H20.
