I've had great experience with Jeff Cockrum at C-RUMS. He shortened the LOP on several of my Benelli M1 stocks and finished them off beautifully with Kick-EEZ pads. Very clean work, great turn-around, and reasonably priced.

Not just the light, but the pressure pad and switches as well - everything except the forearm body.

I know there are more modern alternatives, however, I find that the Surefire forend makes for a clean and effective solution. And then there's the lifetime warranty - Surefire will repair the electro-mechanicals of all their lights (including the forends) at no charge. Even if you're not the original owner. They have brought back two M1 forends from the dead for me. Ed

*NICE* Have you had any issues with the older ghost-ring rear sight on your M1? The ones we had at work would periodically shed parts. The durability of the later design was a lot better. Ed

I see a lot of M4s and such on the forum - and rightfully so because they are the hotness right now. Any love left out there for the good old fashioned M1 Super 90? I second the recommendation of Rose Action Sports. Solid folks to do business with, and one of the few shops I know that can cut a chrome-lined barrel without flaking the chrome.

Sorry I'm a bit late to the party on this, but there is an alternative. Jeff Cockrum of C-Rums gunsmithing can shorten HK M1 (and other model) stocks. I had him shorten the LOP of mine to 12" to make it easier to maneuver and shoulder. Jeff then topped it off with a Kick-Eez pad. The workmanship is absolutely wonderful. It could easily pass for factory original (if the factory was having a good day). He's done three of these for me so far. I found the price fair (less than buying another stock) and the turn-around time very reasonable. Plus he's pleasant to work with. Ed

I'm sure you've probably had this answered by someone else by now, however, just in case: that is exactly the same part for both stocks. Remove the buttplate, unbolt the stock from the recoil spring tube, and pull it off. That frees up the swivel plate (which will probably drop out on its own).
