From what I remember, the first run of Limited Edition M1014s was mid- to late 2002. I bought one with a low 3-digit serial purely by chance in December of '02 when I came back from deployment. I didn't even realize what I'd had until my brother showed me the ad in one of my American Rifleman mags I'd had forwarded to my parent's place while I was overseas.
Those 2500 had serials beginning with "M1014-XXXX", as shown by the "-0117" above. Mine isn't too far from that serial. Since those debuted during the "Assault Weapons Ban", the stocks do NOT collapse, but they can be removed, leaving the rat-tail buffer tube bare, and the magazine tubes have an extension that also serves as a limiter, so it only holds 5 in the tube. When I called Benelli in early 2006 to get a price estimate for my renter's insurance, I was told it had actually appreciated in value by about $600. I paid just under $1,600 for it, so I'd imagine it may have appreciated even more by now.
