I definitely agree what others are saying with the shims. For me, end result is if your a right handed shooter, when you mount the stock, you should be looking straight down the rib. Same as being a left hand shooter. If your seeing the left side or right side, then your cast is not correct. Go back and read previous posts to correct. Same thing about looking down the barrel compared to looking down on the barrel and seeing more rib. If your seeing alot of rib, the gun will shoot high. For hunting purposes, you should be seeing a little bit of the rib. Dave Beutler, Dave's gun cleaning and repair ffl.
