Aimpoint T1 or H1... low profile and can handle all that you throw at it. Not to mention you can leave it running for like 5 years or something rediculous.

You will need a rail to mount any red dot.

Anyone have an idea on who/how one can mount a rail to the receiver on an M1 to mount a T1/H1?

Any competent gun smith can drill and tap your reciever. Depending on your sight arrangement from Benelli (rifle, ghost, or bead) you may find an optic a bit of a disadvantage, because if it goes down you are outta' luck to regain your sight picture.

I have a M1 with a tapped reciever and then bought a Mesa Rail/ shell holder only to find out it totally blocked my sights (rifle) and I wasn't comfortable with that as I was using a budget red dot.

IMHO, if you have Ghost ring sights you are all set and I'd go for it.
