Supernova extension plug and spring removal (cap remove)

Is there a tool to remove the cap to add a new spring for extension tube? Not the screw cap, the black cap under it (smaller cap). I used needle nose pliers and got off but had a hard time putting back on. Just wondering if there is something more easy to use. Thanks
