chairman641
Dick's has advertised a Benelli Diamond O/U for $799. I cannot find any info on this gun. It does not seemed to be listed in the Benelli Catalogs. Can anyone give me some info on this firearm
Cleric
It is actually not a Benelli. It is manufactured under the Franchi name. It's an inexpensive model made exclusively for Dick's.
chairman641
Franchi doesn't seem to own up to it either. Why is that and is the Gun any good. Is it worth the $
Cleric
It's not advertised elsewhere (e.g., Franchi or Benelli's website) because it is exclusive to Dick's. From what I have seen, it is worth the price. Search the Franchi forum here and you should turn up a couple of threads on it. BTW, that Dick's flyer has a few flaws. It does say that the diamond is imported by Benelli (which is true, as are all Benelli subsidaries). It also lists the Nova as a Stoeger gun. Opps. sdkidaho
Found it in this ad. • 12/28 or 20/26 • Silver receiver with European Scroll design • Deluxe walnut stock • Italian-made • Includes hard case and chokes [ 11-03-2005, 10:36 AM: Message edited by: sdkidaho ]
sdkidaho
Would be nice to see a web page for it with the rest of it's technical info.
wallhanger54
Basically it comes in 12, 20 or 28 ga 26" non-interchangeable barrels. It has a steel receiver like the Alcione vs. the aluminum alloy standard Veloce. All have screw in chokes, single selective trigger, ejectors, standard satin finish and not real fancy wood but nice. Internal parts are the same as the regular Veloce and obviously is a little heavier. Great gun for the money I think. Thats about as technical as it gets for an O/U. tucker301
That's a good looking shooter for the $$$. I love my Veloce, but if I didn't have one I'd definitely consider the Diamond.
wallhanger54
Tucker! Welcome back to the nut house! Evidently everything went well. Good to see you again dude!
tucker301
So far, so good. Each day is better than the one before. I'm already shopping for a handgun I can use to take whitetail out to 300 yards with this year. Can't shoot a shouldered weapon for three months. Don't want anything snapping loose
sdkidaho
Dirty Harry has -nothing- on this bad boy. Seen pictures of a moose that was taken with one of these. I think you need one, Tucker.
tucker301
Nice, but I'm looking for something that actually kicks LESS than my 30-
sdkidaho
You have to be above a .40 cal to be legal to hunt big game with a handgun, right? I can't remember if that's where the cut-off is or not.
tucker301
Not here. Anything above .23 cal. makes the grade. I've taken a lot of nice deer with a .243 over the years, so I'm considering that.
Cleric
Are you going to go the T/C route or revolver?
tucker301
Looking at either the TC or Savage Striker. I just bid on a .243 Striker on gunbroker a while ago. Looked like decent deal, considering it comes with a Burris 4x.

Not sure why I was thinking .40 cal. I actually shot my first eld with a .243, so I'm not sure what the heck I was thinking? My dad just got to shoot one of those .50 cal S&W's. Said it was a really nice gun, but it would lift right up out of his off hand, straight up, every time they shot it, and it was a ported model. He had fun though. sargent
i was looking at the benelli dimond o/u and i see that it is just form dicks and i was wondering how hard do you think it would be to find parts for it now and 5-10 years down the road. SigsRus
Ya know, a Marlin 336 type rifle chambered in that 500 S&W would be really nice. I wonder how hard that would be to manage (manufacturing wise).
