M4 Forend

In the process of modifying my new H20 M4 to be 922R complaint and would love some advice.

I love the M4 for what it is and would to love to keep as much of the firearm as stock as possible. But considering that changing the magazine tube requires me to change 3 parts, I'm confused as to what to change for my third item (magazine tube and follower for the first two).

Seeing that my options are the trigger, trigger housing, mesa urbino stock, or forends,  I was leaning more towards the forends and my reasoning is that I don't want to mess with the trigger mechanism and by luck when I purchased my M4, it was supposed to come with a pistol grip but it came with a c-stock so they sent me a free pistol grip. Having a third grip just seems wasteful at this point.

My only concern with the forend is that most I have searched for seems to include m-lok slots and I was wondering if it would affect the ARGO system but allowing more dirt/dust etc. due to the opening. If that is not the case, I would love some recommendations on what seems to be a good forend.

Also, I am not against changing the trigger/housing, just haven't found a good enough reason for that yet.

Thank you all in advance!

As street said if you go the housing route the A&S is a good option.

For forend if you want to keep a stock look but have it count towards 922r you could always do a US made replica. FFT makes one that’s good enough for this.

If you want something a little fancier there is Agency Arms or Briley.

As long as you aren’t using an MLok slot that rubs/blocks the Argo system you are fine. I know some people also Dremel down the exterior of MLok cam to get clearance from the system if they want that specific spot.

I would ask ... exactly what circumstance would require you to allow someone to search your M4 without your consent to confirm this "compliance" you speak of? Exactly what probable cause could be claimed at an alleged glance? What would be required for a warrant to be executed in order to allow this to occur? If anyone inquires, tell them to piss off. Sounds like jumping through hoops just for sake of hoops.

Super valid point.  You’re at the range and some dude comes up and says, “I is the fuzz - I want to inspect your gun”.  The only proper response is “piss off”.  Now supposing that the cops get ahold of your gun for some reason.  You get arrested and have it with you, in the car, whatever.  You’re in the car on the way to the range and are in an accident and somebody t-bones you.  They cart you off to the hospital and the tow truck driver says, “Hey, look what I found!” Forgetting for a moment that it’d probably go in the back of his truck, now the cops got your gun.  It’s debatable whether they could legally disassemble your gun to check for 922 compliance.  What’s the reasonable grounds for suspicion of non-compliance? It’s scary looking? The only possible situation in which I can envision that the fuzz get ahold of your gun and have a reasonable basis to take it apart is if you shoot somebody with it.  I suppose the firearms examiner at the local cop shop could say, “Hey, you know, this thing has all non-US parts in it!”.  I doubt that would happen.  I also question whether anybody, anywhere has ever been prosecuted for a 922 violation.  There are some that say mere possession isn’t a violation - but the violation is the act of configuring such a gun.  Maybe you bought the gun used and some other dude did it.  Maybe you bought an LE gun and Benelli did it.  But, yeah, people do spend cash on 922.  Cheaper than the worst case alternative I suppose.
