Damage magazine thread

Was working on my Benelli M4 when I dropped it and damaged the thread on the magazine tubewhere the retainer/take down cap goes. Now the take down cap won't screw on.

Any way to fix it short of a new mag tube?

If it’s dented, you’ll need a swage to push it you. Pretty common for shotguns to push dents out on tube.

 

if it is the threads, a chaser is needed. It won’t be perfect, but the nut has plenty of thread to maintain the minimal needed retention. It’s not a high, nor even moderately stressed part.

 

machine shop will be your best pal to find the above tools needed
