Parker Posted January 25, 2025 Posted January 25, 2025 I’m hunting a super black eagle 1 barrel. I recently messed mine up and I’ve done a bit of research and found that the sbe2 barrel will fit you just got to change the forend. I was wondering if anyone new where I could get a 26-28” sbe1 barrel because I’m not a big fan of the raised rib on the sbe2 barrel. Quote
bambihunter Posted January 31, 2025 Posted January 31, 2025 They do come up for sale, but you're in for a long wait. I put a saved search on GunBroker.com that had it notify me whenever a listing came up that matched my search. It took 7 years, but I finally got a 24" and 26" to go along with my 28" factory barrel. Ironically, I bought those two at the same time and they also had a 28" for sale. I only saw one other 28" for sale during that 7 year search. I did buy SBE2 barrels too as I already had the modified forearm for my slug barrel but like you, I didn't like the raised rib. Actually, it wasn't that I didn't like it per se, I didn't want to go back and forth between high and low ribs. Plus, I like originality when there is no reason not to be. You might be money and time ahead to buy a SBE1 with a good barrel in the length you want. Take the barrel off and put on yours. Then buy a SBE2 barrel and put on it and resell the SBE you bought (note that it has a new barrel). Quote
Parker Posted February 1, 2025 Author Posted February 1, 2025 Thank you for the info that’s probably what I’ll end up doing Quote
bambihunter Posted February 3, 2025 Posted February 3, 2025 (edited) Be careful, it's a rabbit hole. Here's what all I ended up with... LOL If you do buy and resell with newer barrel, please note that it is the newer barrel type. You said you were aware of the need for the modified forearm requirement for the SBE2 barrels, so you'll either have to modify or replace the existing SBE1 forearm. Another option that might be a little cheaper is to get a slug barrel; particularly E.R. Shaw barrels are a little less than factory Benelli field or slug barrels so you might be able to sell it as a slug gun and not be out as much. I know the early Shaw slug barrels did not require the later/modified forearm, but they might now so double check that. You can tell by the length of the lug behind the ring that goes around the magazine tube as shown in bottom picture. In yellow, note the difference in the length of the lug, that is what changes on the SBE requiring the forearm to be modified. On the M2 barrel on the M1, there is more as there is a ring that acts as a barrel seat stop, but on the SBE it is different since the barrel is the top half of the receiver not a part that goes INTO the receiver like on the M1 and M2. Barrel ring on M2 barrel that does not exist on the M1 barrel for reference. Edited February 3, 2025 by bambihunter Added pics for reference for others that may see this later. Quote
