Sam Alleman
I was looking around on the 'net today, and noticed that the Italian Benelli site shows the Nova Tactical with a weaver rail. I was wondering if this was available stateside. I'm thinking of putting a red dot sight on mine. Sam
tucker301
There's a rail by Aimtech that may be what you're looking for. http://www.midwayusa.com/rewriteaproduct/296354
Sam Alleman
I looked at that one, I think it would interfere with my sidesaddle. Sam
tucker301
I see. For the convenience of others, here is the Italian model. Interestingly enough, the part is not shown in the spare parts list, as far as I could tell. This rail looks like a pretty standard rail, mounted to a drilled and tapped receiver. You may want to consult your local shop about getting yours drilled and tapped. Without mounting this way, I can't imagine finding one that wouldn't interfere with the side saddle. tucker301
The US slug gun also features the scope rail, so perhaps you could find something there.
Sam Alleman
I got an answer from Benelli-USA today. They said to use a Weaver 423M base. No mention of how it's mounted. I tried finding a picture online, but no luck. I'm guessing I'll have to drill and tap the receiver. Heeere gunsmith, gunsmith, gunsmith... Thanks. sam
divitoj
I used a similar saddle mount to that aimtech and the gun is so much heavier now and the safety was inoperable. I am sending my 12 GA Nove back to Benelli but would love to hear from anyone who has successfully mounted a scope on a 12 GA Nova (non-slug) using a Weaver 423M mount. The hard part is finding a gunsmith to drill that plastic.
The_Gun_Guy
I have never found any trouble with the nova safety has everyone else had that problem?, because I have read several complaints about it. As for drilling and tapping through plastic, I did that myself with my little "workshop" if you want to call it that. (its basicly my fathers old shed that he gave me when he retired that has all sorts of crap in it. as for you no I have not attempted a mounting of a scope on a nova. anyway for a nova I would not mount a scope its too complicated, I mounted a scope on my legacy escort because it came with factory grooved Dovetail mounts that seem to be fine.
