wigout Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 Is there a trick to removing the recoil spring for cleaning? I removed the stock but when I tried to remove the spring nut it was very tight and I want to make sure there isn't a retaining pin before I apply brute strength. Any suggestions would be helpful. MG Dave Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 Don't know if the SBE I and SBE II recoil springs are assembled the same way, but this might help: SBE I recoil spring Quote
mudhen Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 I found mine very easy to remove. 17mm socket. It has a threaded tension ring to keep it in place - no more locktite or heat. The drain hole appears to have been relocated so the tube drains through the stock and not into the nut. The new nut is SS to further eliminate rust. mudhen - CA Quote
MrGrumpy Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 All it takes is brute strength!! It's kinda scarry; but, the nut will come off. I had to lightly clamp my receiver in a vice (protected of course). Quote
