CedarLodge Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 I just got back from purchasing my first gun, a Benelli Nova. Since I am very new to the world of guns, I was wondering if I can shoot it right out of the box or if I have to lube it first. Sorry to ask such a basic question but any help is appreciated. Quote
tucker301 Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 Disassemble the gun and clean the barrel and action. Become familiar with its operation by cycling and dry firing (no shells) it several times, then go shoot. Quote
Len Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 + for Tucker301. The gun comes from the factory lubed and ready to go, but a good cleaning will take care of any dust/grime from laying around the gunshop, shipping, etc. After shooting the first time, repeat your cleaning routine. I recommend a good shotgun cleaning kit to assist -it can get a tad messy. Finally, invest in a good case for your Nova. It should be well-padded and easy to carry. Finally, read "The Tactical Shotgun" and PRACTICE! The Nova Pump is an excellent tactical shotgun. You made a great decision -enjoy and be safe! Quote
