sdkidaho Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 Just wondering if any of you put out hen houses at all. I was out scouting last weekend for turkeys and noticed a pair of woodducks. We don't see too many of those around here and I thought maybe I'd build some nesting boxes for them and put them out. It's probably too late for this season as I think they are already nesting, but the boxes would be there for next season. Seemed like it might be a worthwhile endeavour, that and it gives me an excuse to be out in the woods. Quote
Liberty or death Jr. Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 I don't do it. But would like to, just never got around to it. I saw very few wooducks this fall but we were fishing at the river today and I saw dozens of pairs flying around. Watched a female swim around feeding. Definately worth it, I hope to get to it next year. I also noticed a lot of goose nest down there, they have some HUGE eggs. Quote
sdkidaho Posted April 23, 2007 Author Posted April 23, 2007 Site that I found them on. The plans. Quote
Liberty or death Jr. Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 Here is a site for building mallard nests. http://www.deltawaterfowl.org/ddp/henhouses/build.php And if you are really rolling in doe, and feeling really generous. Here are some you can buy. http://www.dakotanesting.com/ I only say that because the price is quite a lot for a nesting box. Quote
