joes_4570 Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 I am wondering about hunting deer with a pistol. would .357 be a good caliber? just kind of learning what i can joes_4570 Quote
tucker301 Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 .357 is plenty big and accurate for short-range hunting, although it is more commonly offered in revolvers instead of pistols. More accurate at longer ranges would be the likes of the Savage Striker and the Thompson Contender. They are available in a miriad of rifle calibers and can take deer out to 300 yards with good optics and a steady hand. Quote
wildfowl Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 I think it can be done, but it is a marginal application. Personally, I would use nothing less than the .41 Mag with the .44 my prefered for deer. Quote
OldFlick Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 The dia. of gun is less important than the speed. Vel. will cause hydralic(shock) damage. I went from a .44mag to a 454 and am happy. A .44 has quite a bit more vel. than the .357 Quote
