  1. I have never had to "BREAK IN" a new gun or atleast my Benellis' . I am sure it is something very simple, and law the law down with the wife. Unless she knows your not a safe guy on her best terms........hahahaha. But atleast she let you get a Benelli !!!!!!! I had this happen agian to me and my buddies on friday morning. Just got the bolt caught up in the clothing while waiting for shooting time. 2 tangs and a boom. I wasn't so careful later in the day with the all the flurries we had. Cans were startign to come down, our guide got 3 banded birds this past week and 4 for the season so far. But I missed my Can unfortunatly when I must have slid my bolt back or something......... Anyways good luck and keep us informed.
  2. Hey Sally, Did I miss something or was the shell catcher the only thing there for the benelli guns. Of which they don't have a SBE II version yet.
  3. I personally haven't had any aftermarket choke outperform My original crio chokes. I just went thru 2 boxes trying to pattern the gun. I tested 20,30 and 40 yards. Federal and win shells. BB's thru #4's. The hardest part is counting pellets. Has anyone one else patterend Primos,patternmaster,hastings,H.S. strut, or any other brands. I was able to drop some big geese this last weekend at some ridiculous ranges, as the guide said NO,NO,NO. I said bang and it helicoptered down. So any other input from testing would be appreciated. Right now I am staying with the original till I find otherwise.
  4. I too came across this problem, and hence solved it. Well I took some pics and tried to reconstruct your problem. In the 1st pic notice the bolt location, this is just after pressing the side button and closing the chamber. then notice the bolt location in the 2nd pic. The bolt has been slowly shut or slightly pulled back then closed,,,,BUT not with full force. Then note the jammed shell. Thats as far as it will go with the bolt not fully shut. However if you pull bolt all the way back and let it slam normally it closes just like the 1st pic and it loads fine. I hope this is what you had happen, becasue I couldn't come up of a way, back engineering your problem. I sure wish we had more woodies here in South East Michigan. 5. I did a shot test myself a few weeks ago with the new SBE II. Our Duck opener and goose is here and I needed to be prepared. After I properly fit the gun using the shims and practiced the mount. I have my beads lined up and hit exactly where I line the beads to. I used federal and winchester steel. 23/4 to 3 1/2 shells. #BB to #4 Mod crio choke and patternmaster choke. Also a different brand of extended full choke tube ported. What I found in general was the stock benelli crio chokes did as well or better than any of the other ones I tried. At 40 yrds and 3 1/2,winchester Hi-vel xpert#2's with mod criochoke I had a consistent 84-87% in a 30" circle. More importantly was the fact I could not fit a golf ball in any hole in the pattern in the 20" circle of the same shot. in the 30" it would take a baseball maybe to fill an untouched area. The hardest thing is just shooting where you point it, It took time to get used to the gun and not anticipating the 3 1/2 recoil. So far I have hunted with the crio chokes and have not seen the need for the others i tested. I have also found #2's to be the smallest I will use. The 3's and 4's do have a great pattern but NO killing power. 3" shells were very good and 2 3/4 will do but the pattern quality shows at 30 yrds. for the 2 3/4. The pattern is set so you can put the bead on the dux feet and be perfect pattern coverage. [ 10-11-2005, 10:35 AM: Message edited by: PLUMMER ]
  6. What is your findings with the mercury recoil on the SBE II. Is it worth it. I shoot alot of 3.5".
  7. I have had the problem only when shooting shells with drams under 3 . Also when I tried to close my bolt slowly to be quiet it will just tang instead of fire.
  8. My SBE II did the same thing but I found it was just on how I was loading the shells. I was always told if your forcing something on your benelli your doing something wrong. Remember to never close the bolt slowly either, otherwise you'll just hear a tang when it comes time to shoot.
