  1. I have an M2 that I want to mount a scope or red dot on for turkey hunting. The receiver isn't drilled and tapped so I was looking at saddle mounts. B-square lists models for the, Nova, Super Black Eagle and Super 90 but not the M2. Does anyone know whether one of these models will fit the M2 or if there is another mount out there that will work? Thanks.
  2. I asked for one when I called to have my stock replaced last month and the girl gave me the number of some parts sales company and said i'd have to buy one. I could see if this was some cosmetic change after a few years but we are talking about an obvious change that took place because the original part is defective in design. For the price of these rifles and the fact that they are introducing a new product in an industry where reputation and longevity are important, it would have been a good PR move to provide these to anyone who has the old design, if they make a formal request. They have the serial #'s, it's not like anyone could make fraudulent requests. To be fair, I received my forearm replacement (original was cracked) yesterday and it was a very close match in color and grain. I am quite happy with there reponse as to that issue.
  3. That's a valid point on the variety, or lack thereof, of semi-auto rifles. Before the R1 there was the BAR and 7400 and that was pretty much it going back for quite a few years. The 7400 was never made to handle magnum rounds and thus would probably be suspect with hot long action rounds. The BAR was made to handle magnum rounds and thus should be able to handle moderately hot factory rounds but seeing as there are probably 4 7400's out there for every BAR, it wouldn't make a lot of sense for Federal or whomever to point out only one type of semi-auto as possibly being useable especially when Federal had no control over Browning suddenly changing specifications. Better to leave the liability to the rifle manufacturer and buyer. I have a 7400 in 30/06 and it is a tempermental rifle when it comes to loads. I also have a BAR in .270 and you can pretty much run any factory round through it within reason. The quality difference between the two is quite apparent as is the R1 to the 7400 but seeing as 7400's are nearly 1/2 to 1/3 the cost, what can you say. This is just an hypothesis on my part, but I would be willing to bet that an R1 and BAR can handle hot factory versions of 30/06 just fine considering they don't exactly change a whole lot in there .300 WM versions.
  4. R1 is hammer forged from what I have read. Browning, Ruger and Remington as well all use hammer forged for there centerfire rifle barrels.

    .300 WM R1

Here in Florida, for $17.50 you could theoretically get 180 deer (daily bag limit of 2, no season limit and we don't use tags), 4 turkeys and as many hogs as you care to deal with. And that's only counting general gun season. Oh, and our deer population is quite stable.
  6. Great, thanks for the quick info. I will call them tomorrow and I don't mind sending in the forearm right away to match.
  7. New to the board so if this has been covered before, please point me in the proper direction. I purchased an R1 in .300WM sometime back for an elk hunt that fell through. Never fired the rifle. Recently I was going to take it to the range for the first time and when cleaning it, noticed a crack on the inside of the forearm near where a small lug is glued into it. Fearing it will crack worse if I fire it, I am hesitant to use it. I would like to know if you can get a replacement from Benelli and what they cost if anyone knows. Thanks.
