  1. thanks for your 20 yrs as well..but contrary to what most people think, according to latest FBI crimes statistics, 'high powered assault weapons' were used in less than 1% of violent crimes comitted in the US..as for the pattern, at 10-20 ft id rather have 9-12 pellets flying in a tight pattern with knockdown punch rather than a high speed bullet that will over penetrate and under expand..just something to think about..as for your neighbors, just glad i dont live beside of ya..hahah

ABQ is not a friendly place when the meth heads get a wild hair to come watch you sleep!! That 1 % violent crime stat will go up if i get a visit and yes i do not wanta a tight pattern i wanta spray the entire doorway and adjacent walls cause they could be standing around corner!! Also ya dump a couple high cap mags on their ass and miss them , the low lifes will probably not come back!! probably loose that BUZZZ they had also!!

  2. I checked out the Benelli site to look at the new camo M4. Under M4 optional features, they claim there are available M4 flashlight mounts; they don't specifically say they're made by Benelli, but that's the implication, at least to me. I sure can't find any Benelli mounts in my searches. Does anyone know if there are now Benelli light mounts, maybe something new?

    Thanks,

    Ishmael

They get their lights and mounts from insight technologies inc. and beleive me they charge for mount, light, and electrical cable/switch nothing thrown in but tax and shiipping at the normal rates!! I called Charlie's and they said approx 350.00 for the 3 pieces, here are a few other light links and they are all $$$ Insight Technology Inc. will not sell direct but gave me this info and if ya need info on what fits what 1-877-744-4802 i am sure they can help with their own product!!

  3. SuperNova, I was thinking about getting a Red dot for it but I used the gun for ducks as well. If I get it drilled and tapped I wonder how that will work out come duck season and I want to take the scope off?

I think you should read manual a tad more, and learn the correct way to pattern a shotgun first! by adjusting the stock with the adjustable shims you will achieve the POI you can live with by getting your pattern board, stcik pin, 15" string, cardboard works good or construction papper and draw a small circle ya can see from 30 to 40 yards and make that your POA then repeatidly do this till you get your POI as close to the center by measuring your pattern by using stick pin in center of POA and draw 30" circle with stick pin and pencil and see which has the best pattern! wikipedia probably has better explanation but ya gotta adjust your stock as you are doing the patterning! Pay close attention when removing and replacing shims by reading manual as ya do it and ya should be good to go in no time!! as far as the red dot ya gonna have to sight it in also and just put some smaller length cap screws in the place of the scope mount screws which would probably be a tad too long without scope installed! PS low in both directions is operater error!!

  4. I have just purchased an M4 and I was wondering if it supposed to come with any choke tubes? Please dont reply unless you know for sure.

From advertising on this website seems to me it says C,IC,M chokes are not standard configuration for M4 and i would question them if they only sent C tube! Under specifications i guess they have the option to let you think you are getting all 3 chokes but in the end ya get only one? That is considered read between the lines marketing and ya would not think Benelli would not do everyone like that but when it says "Specifications subject to change without notice" i guess they could have put it in smaller print where i could have not seen it? Benelli has been known to leave tube sets out of new guns and were very responsive in getting them their tubes but this is a case of buy it if ya want it! Surprised but sad, guess your lucky it comes with a C tube if that's the way they are going to be!!

  5. 'expensive gun safe magnet'...?? wtf ?? the M4 is the smoothest, fastest shooting shotgun out there and the fun factor is HIGH! 'for home protection give me a mini-14 and a couple high cap mags'....again, wtf?? ever heard of over penetration?? 5.56 travels thru drywall real good, so here you are blazing away at mr bad guy and you actually shoot your family members 3 rooms away or even your neighbors in the next house! Not sure what you have against M4's but they are far superior to the mini-14 in most CQB situations for which they were designed. Just stick around here and you might learn a few things.

20 years in the military i think i know a tad about Military Police! Just have a better chance of killing something with more rounds flying and the pattern on an M4 is not very big in CQ as in 10 to 20 ft!! I have nothing against M$ or you and thanks for serving BTW! Most bad guys use high powered assault rifles and i just do not wanta be overpowered holding a 12 Guage? Do not have family members and if an intruder is in my house neighbors are in trouble i guess!

  6. Am having some trouble removing the adjustable stock from my M4, after reviewing the manual closely, and following the instructions, I still cannot get the stock to move counter-clockwise past the 12 o'clock position and then come back off.

I am not sure what I am doing wrong and wondered if anyone else had had this problem.

I have not fully dissembled the M4, but have removed the trigger assembly.

I am guessing that the next course of action is to remove barrel and bolt assembly, but I can't really see how this would cause the problem.

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks

    Nick

Sounds like a smith would be due a call or Benelli C/S or Maybe a tour in the USMC would help then you could clear a few buildings and really get some use from that expensive gunsafe magnet or just move to Albuquerque and leave it next to your bed every night off safe!! they are cool looking guns as long as Uncle Sam is paying for them! for home protection give me a mini-14 and a couple high cap mags and i think the home invaders would be a tad more surprised if they tried to visit me in the am!! Brownells also has a GUN TECH link that might give ya some insight!! Funny thing 20 years of tearing down Ar15's and C-130's never had an issue taking anything apart, it was normally reversing the procedure that whipped everyone!

  7. Anyone experiencing problems with these guns not cycling shells through and jamming?

Particularly when using 3" and 3.5" steel?

    Any ideas welcome, Thanks!

Try troubleshooting tree on benelli website, they have good info and normally they will tell you if it is a specific shell thats doing it ! do not shoot them! if it is numerous different shells do not shoot them but these guns tend to not like several types of shells! Hopefully you broke the gun in IAW manual?

  8. Majority of choke manufacturers will explain which choke fits your gun and what type ammo it will run thru each different choke. The chokes which came with your SBEII are for lead shot as marked on the side of the tube. Wikipedia has some good info on explaining choke constriction unless Dr. Phil is trolling the board! He is DUH MAN on this board!! This issue is not too complicated but second hand info could lead to problems as in stuck choke tubes, missing front sights, benelli will answer your technical question in a timely manner and i have called on occasion and got good info that "I" trust! Most choke manufacturesr are going to tell you that their chokes are da best but ya might have to experiment with what works for you, couple of the proven chokes are the Rhino's, Patternmasters, and briley.

  9. My panic attack is over. I continued with the nylon brush and Break Free. That did the job. I saw some great rust preventative through Brownells that I'll give a shot.

I just wipe my gun down on the outside with a silicon rag and remove excess with clean lint free cotton rag commonly known as old Drawwers!! Cheap is better than expensive and try to use clean ones!! Once you get that bad habit of leaving your gun wet all couped up in a gun case your rust issues should probably vanish! I keep my guns in a American Security Gun safe and just keep a packet of absorbant crystals in there and living in ABQ we never have moister to start with but i have lived in wet climates as in Southern Arkansas and never had pitting problems, just keep fine layer of protectant on exposed metal and keep corrosives off your black external parts and you should be rust free!! Lotta good products that will do this job and you just need to do yours!

  10. I have a few boxes of older (2 or 3 year old) Hevi shot. It is in a green box and hasTUNG-NICKEL-Shot on the box. It is 1 1/4

    oz. three inch shells.

Can this be shot in a Briley turkey choke in a Benelli?

The website and the box is a little vauge on the topic. Thanks to anyone that knows.. Gregor187

I shoot it thru my SBEII with a Extended Tube from Briley with no problems but i called and ordered it from them and made sure i got what i paid for and not something someone else said would be good for me and it patterns nicely! I would also not shoot a shell that old in any 1700.00 shotgun but if ya have taken care of the shells they will probably be no issue!! Hope that answered your question if ya need help with ignore button i am sure there will be play by play instructions soon!! Too bad they have not been able to figure them out!!

  11. I was searching around on the Benelli site and went to the store section and BOOOOOM!!!! There it is a Benelli vest. FINALLY! The leather isn't full length and it isn't red like Tom Knapp's but it does look good.

    check it out

    http://www.benelliusa.com/gear2/index.php/action/item/id/190/prevaction/category/previd/8/prevstart/0/

Good find and a nice vest, tad expensive for me but i am not a competative shooter so i will stay with the cheaper unsponsored walmart one!

  12. I finally got to shoot some skeet with my new SBEII and I love it!!! It shot like a dream and hardly got dirty at all after 7 boxes of shells. Now if only I can get some weather and some ducks i'll see how it kills :D

will you kill more ducks than ya did skeet ?

  13. Took me a long time to get to this point....got a tip on a SBE selling for around 500 and I couldn't believe it when the wife said go for it....oh yeah, I wrote that one down to read later :) I was told that the gun didn't cycle reloads and that it shot high. I wasn't worried because I've heard on this forum how good CS is at Benelli. The recoil spring hadn't ever been cleaned, and this gun was supposedly purchased back in '97 or '98. The gun now cycles like a dream. I put some heat to the recoil tube near the base and was able to back the plug out and clean the tube and the spring, and lightly reoil.

Now here is the question....the stock retaining bolt, that screws into the tube, was cut short so the previous owner could get a socket on it...apparently didn't have a 6" extention. How long is this bolt supposed to be? I was able to start a 8 mm nut in order to back the threads back off, but is that bolt a fine or course threaded 8mm? Anyone know? CS was not able to help.

Now all I have to do is find out if shim A will solve the low POI and I'm good to go. Curious, when did they go with the raised rib, this barrel is almost like a Monte and don't know if it's the gun or me.

Sorry for the long post...lots of great info here, thanks for the shortening the homework!

Why would ya wanta change it or will the nut ya took off no go back on? Seems i would just take to a smith and let him fix it the correct way if you have no tools to size the threads or info, the SBEII uses a 13mm socket for the nut but not sure of internal thread size! on a SBE but would think they would be close! I have more concerns on buying used shotguns due to the fact you can not tell what the other fellar has messed up since he has owned it, there are some felars out their that have a way of putting square pegs in round holes and my take on that issue is better off someone else buying a used shotgun than me!! I can do that task better than most!! Smith will not charge ya much if he has to rethread the tube and install new nut!! So i guess you have a 6" extension? Good luck and congrats on the find sounds like a good price as i have sen a few used ones that were going fora tad biot higher price! and they were in poor condition!!

  14. First off, I want to say that this thread is not a Benelli bashing thread. I have read in the various threads on this forum a consensus that we want Benelli to improve their manuals.

Since Benelli has created this forum to get customer feedback, I would like the Benelli owners to make suggestions in this thread of what improvements we want made to the Benelli manuals.

This thread will provide Benelli with the suggestions we offer to improve the manuals.

So what are your suggestions for improving the Benelli manuals?

More Vino and Lasagne would be nice also, they do need to tweek their manuals with more critical information that everyone seems to ask over and over about, but thats why their is a search button to find existing threads and a C/S number to get the critical info that some people have issues with! Most issues have been answered but, what would be nice is a Benelli C/S Contact-A-TECH emial link which someone actually answered questions in a timely manner instead of having to call!!

  15. Can anyone tell me what the different situational use in target shooting for the different choke tubes that come with my supersport? C,IC,M,IM,F I have never had a gun with these different choke tubes before and think I might be using them wrong. I only shoot lead shot and trap and skeet with it. Thanks in advance.

Go to Wikipedia and search shotgun! Go down to choke section and that should help some and there are some other good items to be found there! Make sure to use a choke tube wrench and never leave one tight unless you are shooting with it and use choke tube lube! Briley says if ya leave them in and tight it's a good chance they could become stuck! But on the other hand ya gotta rememberto tighten them good before shooting!

  16. Hey everyone - I need some help. I will be calling customer service first thing Tuesday morning about my issue however until them I thought maybe one of you have had the same experience as me.

Today, while duck hunting, my SBE II did not fire several times when ducks approached. What happened was this; when I would shoulder the SBE II and pull the trigger all that woudl happen would be that another shell would eject into the receiver and the gun did not fire. This was surprising as it has never had a problem as of yet. This happaned four times when the first shot of three was being shot then once after the first soht was fired. (VERY FRUSTERATING!!!)

My question is really rather simple; is this something that I was doing incorrectly with the benelli? or was it a product of the extremely cold conditions (+/- 20 degrees F).

Please advise as I really don't want this to happen again. I guide with this gun and it is really important that it be reliable...

    Please advise.

    David

I would click on customer service on this website and then click on troubleshooting "if" you have tried putting it to your shoulder and shooting it! They have a failure to fire tree to follow on the troubleshooting page and it tells ya what "They" want ya to do before ya call! What kinda ammo are ya using?

  17. Maybe they will put a third bead on the SBEII so everyone can complain about it being off center as for an exuse on why they can't hit anything!! HEHE! I called Benelli and a Tech told me he took the old dremmel and got rid of his mid bead just to fix the issue of "well do i stack them or rack them" Guess it is what ya are shooting, be it wingshooting vs Slugshooting, to each his own?

  18. Wingshooting with a shotgun is done by pointing the gun at the target, not by aiming at it with the sights as is done with rifle shooting.

Very true but if ya did not fit your shotgun and pattern it and insert correct choke tube ya might as well just close your eyes when ya shoot cause ya will not hit the bird. Adjustable shotguns might be adjusted for your fit from factory but ya still need to pattern it to make sure, thats why some people are missing so many birds but ya gotta get fit done first then address the leed issue and then the scores will go up! Lotta people have never heard of drop and cast adjustments and once they adjust it they will say, that was not that hard now let me try to bust some clays! I saw a sporting clay book At Sporstmans Warehouse that was a very good read for the novice range shooter and probably would help the veteran shooters if they would admit to it!

  19. Hey guys, dumb question but have to ask.

Got a new Supersport w/ comfortech w/ 30 inch barrel. LOVE this gun. This is just a plain awesome gun. Cannot hit the broad side of a barn but so much fun. Wife shoots her new Montefeltro 20g better than I can at the trap range. I am proud to say she is better than me.

ANYWAY, got 300 rounds through my gun. Started out with 2 boxes of Heavy load, Federal Gold 1 1/4 oz, 3 dram, 3 inch #6 shot at 1550fps. These were screamers and kicked pretty good but that is what I could find to "break it in" I wish the manual would say exactly what size shell to use when then they say to run 3-4 boxes of heavy loads through the gun. Since it doesn't say I just went for the biggest I could find locally.

Ok, since then I have been shooting regular Federal 1 1/8 oz, 2.97 dram, 2 3/4 inch #8 shot at 1200fps.

Cycling is excellent and all that so no problems there. The question is that I have some nicks on the receiver where the spent shell gets ejected. I am sure this is normal, right? If this is normal cool, no issues. Could these nicks cause shells to hang up when I start using the lower 1 oz or 7/8's loads in competition. Let me know what you all think.

Thanks and sorry for such a dumb question and the rambling, I never owned a Semi-auto before.

    CR

Hey as far as letting your better half kick it on the range might be a good thing in many ways but you have a drop change kit that came with your gun that will change this as long as you get your practise in and attempt to hit the litlle round things! Most guns need adjustment on the stock and it's called fitting the gun to your body or something like that! Really not hard to do just follow instructions in manual and the ya have to pattern it on a pattern board out no further than 40 yds and see where your POA vs were you are actually hitting pattern board, ya should use a 36" square cardboard/paper or which is the cheapest and pattern your expensive shotgun so you can smoke everyone on the range. Then adjust per manual and you will be getting better scores than ya used to get, also that lame sight that comes on the SBEII would be the first adjustment as in taking it OFF and putting one on that ya can see as in a HI-Viz Flouresent yellow or red they are cheap and easy to put on but do this before ya pattern cause if ya do it after ya did nothing but waste that first pattern session!

  20. Seems from what you have said i think ya probably allready have it broken in and after reading your owners manual i am cluless on what 36 Grammes shot load might mean and i used to reload shotshells, obviously that was back a few years when a fox squirrel had no chance in getting away from me! and only takes a few minutes to call Benelli C/S, i called a couple days ago and had my answer in less than 5 minutes! any round ya would shoot at Pheasant i would think would work on break in! Federal webpage explains the shot weight to grammes?? a little bit they said 1 1/4 oz shot weight equals 35.44 grammes which your manual say not to exceed 36 grammes if you have the 3" Mag 20, have not heard of anything smaller than 3/4 Oz and looked on hodgdons and federal sites and seems that is the smallest charge weight! good info on gramms /charge weights if needed!

Those 3/4 Oz loads were 28 Ga only for the ones i have seen and that federal blue box light loads 20 Ga were only a 2 1/2 dram powder charge which is probably enough but ya might wanta call C/S just to make sure! they will probably tell you like your manual tells you that if it cycles shoot it! Important issue is break in and seems ya did a good job with that issue and manual also says if it does not cycle do not shoot!!

  21. I hate to hear that people are having problems with Benellis. I just got a SBE II for Christmas, but haven't gotten to shoot it yet. If its anything like my Dad and his friend's original SBE it should be perfect. They have been shooting theres for 15 years now. My Dad's broke an ejector arm after 12 or so years and thats the only trouble hes ever had. His friend didn't clean his for 4 or 5 years until my Dad cleaned it for him and he said it was hardly even dirty! I am definately sold on the reliabilty of Benellis. I've shot my Nova for 7 years now shooting every size load known to 12 guages and never had a single jam or misfire!

If you pay attention to the majority of those people having problems it is because THEY are the problem. I have had a SBEII for 3 years and i have not had the first problem and once ya get used to an Italian shotgun you will should not have any either i hope! and congrats on your Xmas present!! read manual before operating and the troubleshooting procedures on website if ya have not had hunter education course!! could save your life! Lotta people take this course for granted just like i did but i have to admit i did learn a few things, if ya hunt in Colorado just about everyone has to have a Hunters Ed Card and these classes were pretty good for first time hunters as far as instructors teaching gun safety and i was surprised how many experienced hunters were told to leave range just because of their issues with gun safety!!
