First, that's cool with the Benelli PG stock. Second it is possible to double feed on 1201FP. When the bolt goes forward loading the round, the lifter will drop. If the little black button (at the end of the lift, in front of the trigger guard) does not catch the lift, then next round will load on to the lift. Try this with dummy rounds, put one in chamber, and one in tube. Press the little black button, ah next shell loads. Try again, but this time put two dummy round in the tube. Pull the trigger (shell load) slowly pull back the bolt, eject the shell from the chamber, now hold the black button back and let the bolt go. Yeap, you'll have a fresh round on the lift as the bolt closes. If the black button is worn, it is possible for double feed. It is also possible to have junk stuck behind the button, causing it not extend fully. Take the trigger group out and clean can help. With that, I still cannot see how the next shell will affect the bolt close completely. You may have other issues.

Well, after a day on the range - 250 birdshots, 25 bucks and 50 slugs later - I guess I answered my own question. It worked just fine

bonojam, if you really worry about the recoil spring not being broken in. Try lock your bolt in open postion and store it in the safe till the next time you go out. This will compress the recoil spring and help it to settle to its final length.

My brand new M1's came with the mag end cap as the mag follower. It always jams at the last 2 shells. I have to say Benelli customer service was very helpful and sent me the replacement free of charge. But the rep did not know the difference between a mag follower vs mag end cap. I had to explain that I own 3 other M1's and the mag follower IS different than the end cap. They also send me 20 gauge choke tube replacement with my 12 gauge follower. The rep was also insisting that the M3 was gas operated... However, they were very friendly, and curteous, wonderful to deal with.

No worries... we are just expressing our experiences with this type of shotgun. I was tring to point out is that some folks used to shooting other type of shotgun will provide a very solid posture to prevent any movement. With Benelli, my experience is that depending on what load you are shooting, you may need to adjust your platform a bit. Putting a gap between your shoulder and stock is silly, I don't think anyone would do that. But putting all your weight behind a Benelli with a light load may cause FTC. (Of couse it would be different between a 130lb guy or 300lb guy)

All my M1 will cycle light game loads (Wally World brand) and all the reduced tactical loads as well. All my Beretta 1200's does exactlly the same. One of my friend's new M2 does not cycle on light loads for him, I took the gun, shot the same load and empty the mag for him. One thing with Inertia driven bolt is that you got to make sure the gun will move to enable this action. If you hold the gun too tight and prevent it to recoil, it will fail to cycle. In Benelli manual, it basically describe this, if you place the M1 against a brick wall, the gun will not cycle. Try to shot it from the hip, see if the gun cycle then.
