When I first got my M4 i tried the Winchester #8 Super target 3 dram. it would not cycle a full mag. I called Benelli and they told me "its a Combat Shotgun meant to shoot full loads. Dont shoot anything less than 3 drams 1 1/8 oz charge" At about 200 rounds of mostly slugs and 00 buck I tried another box of the Winchester and it cycled perfectly.

Just wondering if its just me, but everytime I shoot my M4 I get a lot of fouling up to the 2 gass holes in the barrel. I think its lead cause it comes out on the patch as shiny little bits when cleaning. Its a bear to get out. I use shooters choice, which seems to help but it takes a lot of brush strokes to get it out. Ive tried different ammo but it still does it. Should I just clean it and leave what ever doesnt come out or do others get there barrel perfectly clean after shooting? Thanks in advance, Gerry

they seem to be the cheapest arround. Not sure if its "you get what you pay for" type thing. Thanks, Gerry

I tried some Kroil and probably about 50 strokes with the Bronze bore brush and it cleared up most of it. There is still a little left, but Im sure it will be that way the next time I shoot it. Thanks

Ive got about 300 rounds through this M4 barrel. This pic was taken at the chamber end and Ive cleaned the crap out of it and this wont come out. I used shooters choice and passed the brush through about 20 times. Its mostly the first couple of inches past the chamber.

Got about 200 rounds through my M4 and noticed the reciever has some nicks in it on the edges where the shells eject? Anyone else notice this?

Yes the buckshot was 1 1/8oz and so was the #8. I believe they are talking about 1 1/8 oz charge weight-dram equivalent which they told me is equivalent to 3 drams. It does not say that in the US directions but it states it in the US Marine M1014 Handbook. It states in there "Minumum charge weight of at least 1 1/8 ounce dram equivalent"

I would call benelli. i called today and I was only on hold for about 30 seconds

probably the only thing im guilty of is that I did not break down the bolt. I cleaned all the outer surfaces of the bolt and where it rides on the reciever. I will take it all down this weekend and clean and lube it and try again.

I called Benelli this afternoon and they basically told me that the M4 will not be reliable with anything less than 3 Dram/1-1/8 load. They told me that when I shoot target to use the heavier loads. and basically its a combat shotgun and to shoot heavier loads. they said 200 rounds is a good number for break in.

My previous range session I shot some 00 buck and Winchester Super Target #8 about 65 rounds total, didnt like the #8. Went back to the range again today and I shot 75 rounds of Sellier & Bellot 00, no problems with that at all. After that I tried the #8 again and it was better but I was still getting some stove pipes and failure to feeds and sometimes the bolt would not lock back on the last round. Most posters said they shot a few boxes and then it ate everything. Any suggestions? Thanks

Shot NIB M4 today. I shot Mostly Winchester Super Target #8 shot 1200FPS/3Dram 1-1/8oz. It did not like to cycle this. It did eat up the Lawman 00 Buck I put through it with no malfunctions. Is this common? will I be able to shoot the lighter loads after break in. How many rounds is considered broken in. Thanks in advance,

Took the M4 to the range for the first time. Shot 50 rounds of Winchester Super-Target 2.75" 1200fps #8 Lead shot. Didnt really like to cycle this . It really liked the lawman 00 buck, no problems cycling that. After break in will it cycle the target load stuff? I initially thought the Super-target was kind of on the higher end for a target load? Pretty accurate right out of the box. No problem hitting the plates at 50 yards:) Thanks In advance.

Ive read some posts that people on this board have had the sling swivel scratching the barell of there M4 and they have replaced it with a polymer one. Where can you purchase these? Thanks
