  1. Hornady SST or Partiton gold will work fine for deer,,,Have taken lots with them,,,,,,,And if your shots are close and you do not want to pay 18.00 for a box of 5 slugs....The Winchester Supreme Hi Impact will do fine also,,No Difference in 2 3/4 or 3 inch other then price...All of my Benelli slug barrels will touch holes at 100 yards with any of these. Good Shooting..
  2. SBE I and II barrels are the same I was told by Benelli rep on the phone the other day. I have a Slug barrel for sale below your post and have shot all the slugs on the market to my knowledge. I don,t know why someone would tell you the SST is no good, but in my barrell the SST and Partition gold will shoot double fist size groups at 200 Yards.....At 100 yards I can get both of those shells to touch holes but I always pull the third shot about an inch and a half off. I have have taken deer with both of those shells as well as others over the years. But have not had any sabot style slug that shot bad in the two Benelli slug guns I have owned. Good shooting to you sir. Gregor187
  3. ALL THREE POST ANWSERS. Yes all three are ported chokes...had not thought of that. Not a flinching problem for sure........ Recoil not a problem,,,Payload IS the reason...It is throwing about 50 more pellets into a 10 circle...If it would hit in kill area it would be a legimate 50 yard gun with this load. And it is just this partiular shell. all other 3 1/2 inch shells shoot to point of aim... Thanks for looking..
  4. Has anyone had this problem. I have tried this load in my SBE with three different chokes. Briley,Rhino, and Primos and it prints a foot low in one choke. 8 inches right with another choke and high with a third choke. This is with 2 different lot numbers of shells. Their 3 inch shell shoot perfect in all chokes memtioned. has anyone else run into this. And does anyone have a clue as to why it happens in these chokes. (bad part is it patterns awesome)
  5. I have these items with pictures on Big Game forum. Dealer said list on barrel alone is 600.00. Sighted in ready to go with slugs included...Thanks for looking . Gregor
  6. I called today and talked with the lady I ordered from. She said she talked to the owner after I ordered and he told her to send the .660 instead of the .673 so that is what I will get in the mail.
  7. I think I found your anwser from another post.. 03-06-2006, 06:41 PM mudhen Best choke I found for older Benellis (M1 & SBE I) was a Kick's .660 + any fast lead #5's or #6's. Never tested Win XR's, but they should work fine in any .660 choke. HS will need to be shot from a more open choke. You cannot judge HS from a tight choke, nor lead from an open choke. mudhen - CA
  8. I have a older SBE and may not shoot the Nitro loads but may or may not shoot extended range stuff. Really want an option of regular Hi Vel loads or the extended range loads. But wanted to get the best comparision possible. I kind of let the Nitro and Rhino folks talk me into the .673. But wanted to have the Hi Vel. option. I thought I read where you have tried the Hevi,s and Nitro hevis in the .660 Rhino in older post. Anyway wondered if you had an opinon on which one I needed .673 or .660 Thanks for looking at post.......Gregor
  9. Ordered a Rhino 2 inch extended .673 hevi shot choke today. But after looking back into the older post looks like everyone is shooting the.660. Nitro website and the Rhino folks strongly suggested this one for the SBE. Have you tested the .673 hevi shot choke and did I order the right one in your opinion? Thanks, Gregor
  10. I have a sighted in Super Black Eagle slug barrel with Red Dot scope and slugs. Barrel is custom cut down by Briley Manufacturing....Photos included. Posted on Big Game forum..Thanks for looking.........
  11. Very Versatile,It will handle bird shot loads as light as 3 drams. Just change out the chokes and go hunting..for 1400.00 plus they dog done well should be versatile..You will enjoy the SBE Good Shooting sir.
  12. I called the other day to see what I had (bought it 10 years or so ago) And have never really seriously patterned it until lately. Just wondering what has worked best with these chokes in your guns using the 3 in or 3 1/2 inch shells in SBE shotguns. They said is was a .665 between the rifling.
  13. Yes, you can shoot both thru the same choke. Normally Mod. and or Imp.Mod. has given the best buckshot patterns with all of the guns I have tested over the years, Best of Luck to you and enjoy your new gun
  14. I have a SBE slug gun. And have tried a standard forearm with the slug barrel and it does not quite fit. But the 24inch vent barrel works fine and is tight with the slug forearm. If you find a Super black Eagle 1. I have a slug barrel with Red Dot for sale on the Big Game forum. And will trade you the Black forearm if you buy the slug barrel. (shamless plug for slug barrel sale,,Sorry) I bought a 24 vent barrel for it and don,t have to shoot slugs in my area any more. Best of luck in your search. Gregor187
  15. sit in the living room while watching TV and work the bolt back and forth a few nights. Like a thousand times a night. And this will help breaking in the gun without spending a small fortune to get it done. Just pull it back and let it go. That and put a very small amount of lube in the recoil spring. Never had one not shoot 3dram 2 3/4 inch loads after that. (has worked for us)
  16. if anyone is interested,,,Thanks for Looking,,,,,Gregor
  17. I have patterned many Benelli,s over the years. I have found the IM. or Mod to be the best for 3inch 00 buckshot shells. On a few ocassions full has been the best. IF YOU ARE A SERIOUS BUCKSHOT SHOOTER. Buy a Pattenmaster or Wad Wizard buckshot choke. I bought some 3.5 remington 00 and getting 13 out of 18 pellets in a 24 by 24 inch square at 50 yards. Everyone that buys a Patternmaster swears by it, Recomended a dozen or so in the last few years. Best if Luck
  18. Benelli owner for 15 years and I have had it wrong all of this time. Thanks for letting me know. Gregor187
  19. You may be right on the M2 shims...I was baseing my experience with M1 shotguns only...
  20. Mudhen,,Thanks alot thats the information I was looking for,,,,,,,Gregor
  21. No,,,,,,,,,,The D shim is thinner, It will raise Point of Impact... I had the same problem with my M1 and ordered a new shim kit the other day just to get the D shim...They did not offer a D when the gun was new.. It cured my problem,,,Wish I had it 9 years ago..I was never totally happy with this gun on account of it shooting low. Benelli Rep told me my rib on the barrel was not correct height on my ERA gun and D shim would fix it and it did,,,Good luck
  22. I AM STARTING BACK TURKEY HUNTING THIS YEAR. AND WAS WONDERING HOW MY PATTERNS STACK UP. I am getting about 5 to 9 pellets into the brain and spine area using several of the top turkey targets on the market.. At 40 yards. This is with no. 5,s with several guns. I just believe I should be doing a little better. How do I stack up againest your guns?.. Thanks in advance,,
  23. The receiver on a benelli is about two inches longer than a gas or long recoil gun. So choose two inches less barrel lenght than you are used too. exsample 24 inch benelli is about the same sight plain as a 26 barrel Browning or Remington. As for barrel lenght and speed. I have shot 21,24,and 28 inch barrels thru a chrongraph a few years ago(same gun different barrels) and about 50 feet per second is the only difference in the three. Gun was an M1 field. Best of luck.
  24. They would like to sell for a SBE or M1?,,,I have a four shot and it is too long and not really balanced. It makes the gun too front heavy for my likes. Or do any of you know where the factory extensions are sold? Thanks for looking. gregor187
