  1. You are the one who has to look at yourself in the mirror every day. In Illinois it is illegal to dispatch (kill) a deer that has been struck by a vehicle and is still alive. I'd shoot it, so it wouldn't suffer. Give me a ticket. It is also legal to shoot ducks on the water. I don't do that. Some do.
  2. FLH, Do you notice people turning and walking away from you while you are in mid-sentence? Just curious.
  3. Thanks for all of the responses. I just ordered a Woodhaven Cherry Classic.
  4. It has been my experience that a $12 call can sound just as good as an $80 one. I have a gift card to Cabela's that is burning a hole in my pocket and really want a new slate call, as I cannot putt or purr very well with a mouth call. Thing is, I hate to buy a call without hearing and feeling it. The reviews in the online catalog are helpful; I'm just trying to get as much input as possible. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  5. It doesn't work as well as the factory replacement center, but it keeps the arrows from passing through. And it only cost $2.39. Let it cure overnight or have a gallon of acetone handy.
  6. 2 a.m. with a full moon and 3 inches of snow on the ground.
  7. Looks like blue is ahead in the polls again.
  8. We put out blue heron decoys in our duck decoys to (theoretically) make ducks feel more at ease about the set up. I'm thinking about setting a few turkey decoys around my treestand to make the deer more relaxed. Any opinions/suggestions?
  9. It's an 870 Express Supermagnum. 3 1/2" chamber. It doesn't even kick when you shoot turkeys, only when you shoot at paper. Funny how that works. Forgive my picture posting skills, this is new and very challenging for me.
  10. This is really dumb, but I am superstitious. The 870 was new last spring and I was successful, plus I already had it dialed in. So, I opted to leave the SBEII at home and hunt with the Remington. My brother in law is going to use the Benelli during IL's 4th season and hopefully christen it (although, I already shot a few rabbits with it). I'm also wierd about following the rules. The permit says to tag the bird IMMEDIATELY after harvesting it, so I tag it IMMEDIATELY. Heaven forbid a game warden come walking up while I am photographing an untagged turkey.
