  1. There seems to be some disagreement about whether or not Benelli is still manufacturing the +2 tubes for the M4, or if they're outsourcing the tubes and calling them OEM.

In an effort to get this clarified, I just sent an email to Benelli CS to find out exactly what the truth is. Here's the text of the email I sent:

I would like to purchase a Benelli M4 magazine extension tube (+2).

Does Benelli still manufacture these extension tubes? If not, who is currently manufacturing the Benelli OEM mag extensions?

    I'll post their response here.

  2. From Hogwild's reference:

A barrel for shooting slugs does require some special considerations. Iron sights or a low magnification telescopic sight are needed for accuracy, rather than the bead sight used with shot, and an open choke is best. Since most current production shotguns come equipped with sighting ribs and interchangeable choke tubes, converting a standard shotgun to a slug gun can be as simple as attaching clamp-on sights to the rib and switching to a skeet or cylinder choke tube.

Since we shoot smoothbores vis a vis rifled tubes, narrowing the choke may allow for shooting of slugs but it will peel off a little bit of the slug as it exits the barrel. I would guess that this will only matter if you're shooting a lot of slugs, eg in a class but personally I would recommend a cylinder choke when shooting slugs.

  3. I'm with you Leftie, we can really learn a lot on this forum if we can get past correcting spelling errors. A little good humor and common courtesy will go a long way here. Let's work to improve the tone so we can do what we came here for...learn more about our Benellis!

  4. I agree with Duggan that a full-length tube would be preferable, and I've seen what appears to me to be some fantastic machining by carriercomp and socomguy. The only reason that I am settling for a +2 tube is because I'm just not comfortable taking a heating gun to my receiver, and a +2 tube will accomplish exactly the same thing without the hassle. For me, that's good enough. For others, it's not and I respect that. To each his own.

  5. Question to moderator: Of all the gun forums on which I participate, it's universally considered rude for a poster to bait the original poster because he doesn't like the way the thread is going.

Is this normal for the Benelli forum? I came here for information and I've got a little pit yorkie yipping at me. I don't want trouble, I just want to participate with like-minded brothers. But if this is what is going to happen when I allow my own thread to drift (and in which I offered info that I was given directly from Benelli, for others here to see), then I'll pass on the forum. Life's too short.

    Carry on.

  6. I called Benelli and they told me that TacStar was making their mag extensions. I then called TacStar, spoke to Dennett, and he confirmed this.

So unless Benelli CS and Dennett at TacStar are lying, the TacStar tube IS the Benelli tube.

  7. Just got off the phone with Benelli CS, they told me that TacStar was making their mag extensions.

They are parkerized, +2 extensions that match the M4 finish. No frying of the receiver required.

I have one inbound, including overnight shipping, for less than $90.00.

    FYI.

    Beware.

  8. If you would make +2 mag tube extensions for the M4 you would have a hard time keeping up with orders.

Make a perfect Ti +2 tube for my Benelli M4 and name your price my friend.

You may wonder why I don't buy the solid extension tube, as high quality as it appears to be. The reason is very simple. I do not want to take a heat gun to my shotgun.

All I want to do is take off the silly round-limiting factory extension and replace it with a +2 extension tube. If I could find one in the market, I'd buy it right now but I can't so I'm wondering when you'll tap this enormous market.

    Thanks,

    Greg
