  1. I bought an 18 inch barrel at a local gun show. Apparently the barrel isn't made for my M1 Super 90. The barrel looks like it is made for a longer magazine tube. The mounting eyelet on the barrel is an inch and 1/2 to long for the barrel I bought. Is there a factory magazine tube that can be swaped out to be used with the new barrel on this gun.

Think about this. The Mag tube on a M1 is stationary, the extensions mount after barrel nut, so if your new bbl doesn't fit now, it's not for an M1.

  2. Glad to see the youth of America becoming Riflemen again.

First off - Cleaning the weapon after every time you shoot it is a good ritual, it lets you check for any problems prior to the next trip out. (Really sucks if something was wrong, broke firing pin, and you could of dealt with it prior to going out) The weapon can always stand being cleaned and lubricated.

Slugs - A low recoil rifled slug like the Winchester 00 will be much more caring on your shoulder and real effective within a hundred yards, even better at the 50 / 75 mark.

Lastly, buy ammo and enjoy it but remember "Practice doesn't make Perfect - Perfect Practice makes Perfect"

  3. Don't you just love the internet?

To think that this hack is screwing up jobs like crazy, then screwing the customers, then changing sites, without the intelligence to change his name!

    Moderators!!!!!!!

    Ban this hacksaw!!!!!!!

  4. Threaded all the way down the bore like some shotguns are (for deer hunting)

    Ahhhhhh.....

You mean rifled. At this time there are no rifled options for the M4.

You can easily use either Slug rounds or Sabot rounds for hunting with the enclosed choke.

At 16 Yards we see a Flyer in the IC and the Full which skews the results but must be reported. The Mod holds firm. I waited to see if this would happen again at 24 yards.

    DSC_0012.JPG

As you could see in this last photo both the IC and Full had flyer's, repeated tests brought them out 70% of the time. The Mod stayed extremely consistent.

The end result was that the BlackBore choke had consistently tighter groups then the Benelli choke.

I would have to give this result to the wad inhibitor Mark has come up with.

Thanks all for reading and I look forward to the following discussion.

    And again,

DO NOT EXPECT ANYTHING CLOSE TO THIS GROUPING WITHOUT FLIGHT CONTROL...

In the above photo I fired a "Control Group".

The Center Mass Section of the target is 5.5" wide X 7.5" long.

The shots were made off hand from three distances.

8 Yards - The extreme distance for a room in your house.

16 Yards - Room to Room distance.

24 Yards - Possibly the largest distance in your home.

The Nine Pellet Federal did quite well out of the standard Benelli choke (lll Mod).

    8 Yard - 2" group

    16 Yard - 4.5" group

    24 Yards - 7.5' group

Do not expect anything close to this without Flight Control ammunition!!!

In the following three photos I tested the BlackBore Chokes.

Upper Left is (llll) Improved Cylinder

    Center is (lll) Modified

    Lower Right is (l) Full

Easily seen are some great groupings by all the chokes.

  7. I recently had the pleasure to test Federal 12g 00buck Flight Control Ammo with the standard Benelli (lll) Mod Choke and three new chokes from Mark (GTPSC) at BlackBore.

If you have a few minutes, follow me through the following photos...

The BlackBore choke is designed to slow the wadding down and keep it from interfering with the flight path of the shot.

You can see that the BlackBore choke extends past the muzzle and the proprietary cuts that inhibit wad movement.

  8. My replacement spring showed up and I had the opportunity to put 100 rds of 00 Buck and 75 rds of Slug through the gun.

Lets start off with this; I've listened (read) Cliff/Kip posts and he seems like a straight forward guy (Marine) who is truly dedicated to his craft. So I bought his spring.

Can you say flawless. My Unit is hard on Weapon Systems, I fired it yesterday straight down a 6 floor stairwell, 45 times. I felt that would be the best test of spring tension. Not a problem ate both types of ammo. Did a couple Australian (getting way to old for that) cause someone said I was too old to do it!

Fired most of the rest in drills with the slugs doing the start in SIA. Flawless.

    Cliff / Kip. Thank You.

BTW - Are some of you seeing the ability to load 7 rds in the mag with a +2 Benelli extension? The most mine has ever held is 4, now 6 with the +2. This is with loads less than 70mm. (2 3/4).

  9. Any of the Benelli's are a fine choice. Just as Cksh8me states, go buy some full load 00 Buck, at least 50 rds, and run it through your gun to "loosen" it up. After that you'll be surprised what she'll shoot.

As for your M4 purchase, there will always be something "newer", "better", "sexier' out there. Enjoy what you have, enjoy your time with your twins and their Scouts, nothing can replace that!!!

  10. There are several bbl's to choose from, 26", 28" and a Slug.

    Also different stock configurations.

All easy to switch out, availability is the only question. Although a quick scan with Google showed plenty.

  11. I know your LE trained, but I'm not counting on having SWAT with me and I don't need to be concerned about muzzling team members.

If I'm clearing a corner where the 10% area is on my firing side, I'm going to able to address any threat that 1/4 second faster if I'm at the high ready than indoor low ready.

The comfor-tech stock is nice though. would like a hybrid also.

    Not to Hijack...

1/4 second? doesn't mean much even if I agreed..

Take into consideration High Ready blocks a lot of vision, especially in a house, that's why there's ILR, always time to be sure of your target. High ready was a carry over from wing shooting, it's used outdoors and when your prey will take flight or at a greater distance...

ILR - It's just good tactical sense. bet you if I spent 10 mins with you, you'd change your mind, you don't need LE or SWAT training to be comfortable in your home.

Remember practice doesn't make perfect, perfect practice makes perfect!

    Mike

  12. It's mostly a matter of personal preference, however, I swapped out my M4 PG for a field stock because the PG inhibits your ability to ability to carry your weapon in certain positions, such as high ready. Try going around a corner to investigate that bump in the night with a PG'ed shotgun without leading with your barrel, and you'll see its very difficult to maintain your grip on the PG. Also, if you do lead with your barrel and a Biddy grabs your weapon, its much easier for him to break your grip on the PG by twisting the shotgun than with a field stock.

    Personal preference aside...

Moving through the house in a high ready position? That's just bad advice. The proper position is Indoor Low Ready, the weapon close to your body and bladed across your chest. A hand reaching out will only find the shotgun being pulled toward his legs or pelvis.

The second part of your shotgun take-a-way is kind of misleading. Any weapon can be removed by rotating away from the fingers and to the thumb, your weakest part of the grip, Thats why the indoor low ready position keeps the weapon close to the chest and uses a pistol gripped weapon system. Rotation towards the thumb would be toward your chest, the area which your arms have the most strength and control.
