  1. I have a Bushnel Trophy 1.5x6 with a 40mm objective and a 30mm tube. I use it for deer in dense hardwood bush and love it. Can't hunt after sun down here people do it but its called jacklighting and you don't want to get caught. Best freinds father was doing it at his father in laws farm one eavening and shot his father in laws horse. Said they looked like deer eyes to him.
  2. Iwould have to side with energizer I have a lead sled that I use to tune in the scope and from there on its free hand. I find that even with a low power selected on the scope im all over the bush at 100 yrds and the longer I wait the worse I get. What works for me is practice practice practice and when I get used to and comfortable with my gun I dont worry about the wiggles just pull the triger when it feels right and most times I hit what Im shooting at. I purchaced an R1 walnut in 308 this summer it made me very happy in the deer hunt i jumped a nice 8 point got two quick shots at it going flat out through the bush at about 75yrds By quick I mean you see the deer the gun automaticaly hits your sholder with the saftey off you shoot the deers gone and you wonder what the **** just happend. That R1 put one through the heart and one through the lungs and meat in the pot not because Im a good shot but bcause it comes up nice fits good and I trust it to hit what I point it at. My old Browning BLR that I carried for 30 years was so well trained that all you had to do was point it in the general direction. It dosnt seem to work quite as well for my son yet but Im shure it will with practice
  3. I had origanaly ordered a Browning and When I was told delivery would be four to six months. I switched horses and orderd an R1 walnut in 308 then I discoverd this forum. I was a little concered at all the negative posts on feeding issues, poor groups and failure to hold zero after disasembly for cleaning. I am happy to say that these are not a problem with my gun so far and I am very satisfied .
  4. Im going to like this new gun fit and finish is very nice and it shoots my Bar rounds like they were made for it. I have only shot about 25 rounds but I got four three shot groups at 1 inch or better off the bench at 100 yds and all my free hands were on the paper. These were 150 gr bullets I am going to load some 180s and tune it in for them as Moose season comes first. The only glitch I have found is the mounting of the for stock it is loose and slopy with the screw as tight as it goes. I think I read a post about putting a o ring somewere Im thinking maybe on the pin that fits in the bracket on the reciever? Anyway at this point I would recomend it to anyone it shoots good has a very nice balance at your sholder it seems to kick like a 308 maybe you have to buy the comfort tec stalk to get the reduced recoil but I dont like plastic guns so Im not complaining Ben

    New R1

My new walnut 308 should be here wednesday. have been carying browning BLRS for 30 years with no complaints ever so My first choice was a BAR untill I orderd one and was told no problem will be deliverd in 4 to 6 months. At this point Im thinking that was a blessing in disgiuse as on doing some reading there are points to the R1 that I like much beter. It looks to me that the benelli wins hands down in the ease of dissasembly and assembly. I like the idea of the cyro treated barrel I have not heard ahything in regards to guns but have heard very good things on this treatment to performance engine parts. I like the option of being able to puchase a second barrel if I want a different caliber. I live and hunt in northern ontario mostly for Deer and moose. My hunting style puts on about 8 miles a day for two weeks in the deer hunt and at least half that for a week during the moose season so I need a gun that is nice to carry and that fits. My old BLR is so well trained that the deer is usually on the ground befoure I know Ive pulled the triger. The other senerio is that I have to count the bullets left in the second clip to figure out how many shots Ive taken. Doging is much different than sitting on a stand if you see a deer you are lucky to get one quality shot and you better be fast to get it or its gone. I have a 100yd range cut out in the field cant load any ammo till it gets here hope my browning rounds will work for a first hura can always shorten them up I guess there is no such thing as cheap amo were I live. I will let every one know how it shoots I dont spend days trying for a sweet 3|4 inch load because without a bench and a lead slead I cant shoot anywere near that good anyway I find that I just have to become familiar enough with my gun so that I can wave around in the breeze pull the triger when it feels right and hit the target Ben
