  1. I've only bought a magazine tube extension, and I got it from Nordic Components. I have quite a few buddies that hunt almost everyday of our conservation snow goose season and swear by the Nordic tube extensions. Haven't had a chance to use mine yet. I know some guys get their extensions dipped to match the camo on their gun, but I haven't done that. My gun is in Duck Blind camo (yes, it is a factory camo, but was a limited run) and I'm afraid that it wouldn't match perfectly since it's from a different company. As far as shooting here goes, we shoot a lot of local golf course geese, and then get the migrators later. They've been shot at all the way from Canada, and there's a lot of pressure on em here too, so it gets rough late in the season. Don't have much duck hunting though, I have to go to Southern or Western Illinois for that, or just make even bigger/better trips to South America!
  2. I've got an SBE II, never shot a Vinci, but there is a problem with the Vinci for me, and it's the placement of the safety. I grew up shooting with the safety behind the trigger, it's habit for my finger to go there. I don't want to have to think about hitting the safety in front of the trigger with the Vinci. It may seem like a small thing, but it's something to think about. Granted, it's something that you could train yourself into, but I don't want to have to do that. Also, if you're shooting late season wary geese, it's always a plus to have the 3.5's since they don't always lock up and glide on in.
  3. Talked to customer service today. They didn't seem too surprised at the problem. Sending me a new choke, and don't even want to see the cracked tube.
  4. It really depends on how much you want/can spend. Columbia makes awesome bibs and parkas, but they are costly, however they will replace or repair any defective or even torn items. As far as decoys, do not buy the "Hot Buy" Greenhead Gear duck floaters. The paint will chip easily.... there's a reason they are so cheap. The other Greenhead Gear dekes are great though. Get a Mojo with a remote, you'll love it, especially if you figure out that the ducks start to flair it when they get close, or it's sunny and it has a glare. For shot, I shoot #2's, all around good load, I prefer Black Clouds with a modified choke, but if you can afford the good stuff, look into Remington Wingmaster HD. That stuff is amazing, I just can't afford to shoot much of it. If you really want something that will kick like a mule, shoot those Hypersonics.... I will never shoot them again, it's worse than shooting 3.5 inch 00 Buck. As far as a call, you might get a cheaper double reed to start with, but if you're looking for a quality, great sounding call, get a Lynch Mob - Stranglehold, double reed, the best call I've blown, and they'll tune it how you want it. Good luck getting started, there sure are a lot of choices out there, and I'm sure you'll have to go through a lot of trial and error before you figure out what you like the best!
  5. That's what I'm gonna do, hopefully they will help me out. I just wondered if anybody else had heard of this happening. Thanks for the responses so far.
  6. The barrel is okay to the naked eye, and I can screw the IC choke in fine. It tightens up and seems to be alright. A further question is, would I possibly need to send the barrel in for inspection of some sort in case of small stress cracks/failures in the barrel now, that I just can't see? I don't need that blowing up on me. And, yes, the modified is "steel shot ok", anything tighter and I would have a problem.
  7. I have an SBE II, that I've had for about 6 months, and have only shot about 4-5 boxes of 3.5 steel 2's and BB's out of this year. I have only shot modified choke. While doing maintenance on the gun yesterday, I took the choke tube out, and noticed a stress crack down the entire choke. Has anybody had this happen / is it at all common to these crio tubes? Would it just be that the choke was faulty to begin with / metal was weak? I'm hopin Benelli will help me out on this one.
