  1. I'm no expert, but...

The 1014 lacked the barrel ring that seats against the receiver, also it was fixed choke and narrow barrel extension.

There is an obscure 4-port barrel out there, but I doubt the external dimensions are different.

If you were to fit your jig to a late model 11707 barrel I don't think you would ever have a problem.

  2. The story I got was that Benelli had two different barrels (perhaps M1014 verse 11707) and two different rails were made. But don't believe everything you hear.

Truthfully I don't think you'll have any problems. I had the same M80 on both my M4 and 1014. Fit was great on each one.

  3. I mean take the plugs themselves apart.

I was waiting for this. No, I've never taken them apart. The USMC manual says not to and that is good enough for me.

The only reason I see to disassemble them would be for cleaning. Since the pistons stay squeaky clean I'd imagine the plug does as well.

  4. Mechanically it will not hurt your gun. You, on the other hand, are a different story.

As was mentioned shotguns lack the whizbang firing-pin lock that is commonly found on handguns. I know the safety on the M4s blocks the sear, but this is not good enough for me, and I don't know for certain that the M2 does as well.

I do not recommend keeping a shotgun "locked and cocked". I don't care how you look at it, there is a hammer under stress backed up to a shell ready to go BOOM.

A few nights ago I went for a walk in the woods. I promptly slipped on some mud and busted my hiney. Goggles, Beretta and Mossberg went EVERYWHERE. Accidents happen, and better safe than sorry.
