  1. Anyone running one?

I recently purchased the Sidearmor "Entry" model (apparently TSS model 30151) with 8 rnd shell holder. IMO, an excellent piece, beautifully made. Others here have objected to the weight, but it is what it is and hasnt been an issue for me.

  2. I'd personally use FIREClean. My M1014 felt slickest with it, and it's gotten some very good T&E from 3-gunners, .mil, etc.

Read the reviews, ordered some! Seems too good to be true but we'll see. At about $240 per quart, it ought be be superb! Hope springs eternal!

  3. Just curious, but is there anything special about it, and have you called them yet?

Dont know about it being anything special, but want to use what Benelli recommends if I can get it. Havent called them yet but will give that a try.

EDIT: went to the Benelli Store website. They dont show the MF-82 oil but they do show a Universal Cleaning Kit with .. wait for it ... Break Free CLP.

  4. Done a bunch of searching looking to buy Benelli MF-82 oil but cant find a U.S. source. Any guidance on this? (I have a zillion other gun lube products so no need to suggest alternatives.)

  5. I am experimenting with a Nordic Components +1 magazine extension on a CC 7 rnd mag tube. First test was with the standard CC/Wolff mag spring which came with the CC magazine tube. Had some failures to eject with this setup when using Federal 2 3/4 reduced recoil 00 buck. Full power Remington Express loads cycled OK. The Nordic extension came with a very long spring which must be cut to proper length. I will try that next, but am wondering how much effect the mag spring might have on proper cycling?

  6. I have replaced the FFT charging handle with a GG&G which works as one would expect. I am finding that I like the larger size compared to the FFT (1/2 in?). However, the aesthetics of the FFT titanium are superior IMO (if you care). I also have the FFT forends. The fit isn't as good as the OEM parts, but no filing was needed.

I am currently experimenting with a Nordic Components x1 mag extension on my CC 7 round mag tube. I am intending to use the CC/Wolff 7 rnd spring to make it more likely that I can get 8 rnds into the mag provided it runs reliably. Any thoughts on this? Also wondering if the Nordic Components mag extension has any 922® implications? Instruction sheet implies made in USA.

  7. Fired for the first time today an M4 I have been building over the winter months. Excellent results with one exception. First 7 rounds were Remington Express 00 9 pellet buck. Next 10 round were Federal low recoil Flight Control 00 9 pellet buck. Then 25 more rounds of Remington Express. All ammo performed flawlessly. Only issue was that I couldnt get 7 rounds of either shell in the CC 7 rnd mag (6 rounds no problem, the 7th was about 1/8 in from fitting). No problem getting 7 rounds of dummy ammo in the mag. Any thoughts on this?

My thanks to all here who offered advice in building this M4, especially SD. It is on heavy side at 10.8 lbs, but the weight wasnt particularly noticeable when firing the gun. Might be after a day of lugging it around, but this is not how it will be used.

  8. ... still pretty annoying though

You might want to try replacing the spring with the Wolff spring that comes with the CC 7 rnd mag tubes. Looks like you reused the stock 5 rnd spring, so a 7 rnd spring might be in order, squeaking or not. Not that its relevant, but I have the CC 7 rnd mag tube and spring, and the squeaking option was not included!

  9. It allows the operator to breach his own doors so bad guys can come in.

The "cleverness" of some here is without limits! :D

I can envision a scenario in which the "operator" might want to breach his own doors to get out!

  10. I haven't swapped mine out yet, too hesitant to try myself.

Did mine recently having never done anything similar. Using SD's posts here and a video on the M2 linked here was quite straightforward.

  11. My back hurts reading this.

Not everyone here is an 80 lb weakling. As others here have written, when the Zombies come, you wont be thinking so much about what it weighs! :D

  12. Am I missing something? Geissele website shows a HAMMER for the M4 but not a trigger. I keep hearing rumors about a Geissele trigger but AFAIK, not yet available.

My FFT trigger shows similar marks but they are on a part of the trigger that is not visible when installed.

  13. I am looking for a detailed guide to lubing the M4 along the lines of SD's photo essays on trigger group assembly etc (lots of detailed photos or a video). Have searched this forum, utube, and looked at the mil manual, but these are pretty vague when it comes to exactly what and where to apply lube. Any pointers/links?

  14. I've used the birch-casey black aluminum touch up

The finish that is damaged is on the barrel and is a dark gray color, not black. Wondering of there is a B-C product (or similar) closer to this color than black?

  15. My M4 arrived NIB with some minor dings on the edges of the ring on the barrel in which the magazine tube is held. Wondering if some touch up paint is available to match the finish on this part?

  16. Just removed the stock magazine tube to install the CC Ti tube. Very straight forward and easy. Heated with a heat gun on low setting for less than five minutes, directing the heat to the tube but not the receiver. Mag tube and receiver wrapped with micro fiber cleaning cloths for insulation and protection of finish. Using two people, one holding the receiver and one holding the tube, simply unscrewed with only moderate effort. Anyone who is avoiding this out of concern for using heat need not worry if reasonable care is taken. Biggest issue was cleaning off the thread locker (red); acetone sort of worked but it took some time. Almost all of the thread locker came off on the stock tube threads, not on the receiver threads.

  17. Just completed installation of the following on my M4:

    FFT Trigger

    FFT Disconnector

    Geissele Hammer

    Taran Tactical Oversize Safety

    Taran Tactical Extended Carrier.

Using SD's posts and the recent video on the M2 trigger group, this was quite straight forward even with my very limited experience with this kind of modification. Most challenging steps were removal/installation of the snap ring (due to crappy snap ring pliers) and installation of the disconnector retaining pin. Probably took an hour overall. Would be much faster the second time.

    Next to install is:

    Carrier Comp Magazine

    Carrier Comp Follower & Spring

    FFT Handguards

    MeproLight Night Sights

    Benelli Collapsible Stock

    GG&G Oversize Bolt Release

By my accounting, all these mods should yield six 922® compliant parts.
