Wow ok.  I did not know that....  So Benelliparts.com sells the below for $199.  While it looks as though it extends the grooves, it also says this part is already installed on all new M4's.   Man it stinks to pay $2k for a gun only to dish out more to get the intended function.

I think his description is outdated since you just bought one and it didn't come with that tube.  I'm in CA and mine came with the 3 position tube with the standard pistol grip stock, not the skeletal collapsible one like yours.  So when I put the collapsible stock on, it was fully functional.

  2. At that price, you should buy it so you can compare the two.  Keep the one you like more and in this market you can probably sell the other one really quickly without losing any money.  You can't go wrong if the gun is in good condition.  If it's in new condition, it's a no brainer because you end up with the gun you like best for free.  If the M4 is in demand right now due to everything going on, you can probably even make a few bucks in the process.

  3. I'm in full agreement that as a general rule, there should never be any surprises when you buy something online.  But complaining about the variation in packaging is over the top and unreasonable.  I've been buying from Benelliparts since about 2014 or 15 with no disappointments and I've purchased at least one of every part he has ever offered for the M4.

You should know that in most cases, people are only reacting to how you treat them.  Not only was your tone unfair from the first text, you asked him a ridiculous, almost comical question like "Do these two tubes look the same to you?"

Uh, yes. Yes they do....how else should he have responded?  His reply was friendly in my opinion.  You don't call people you truly dislike a big dummy.

And not that you ever should, but if you're going to make fun of someone's fluency in a language or writing ability, shouldn't yours be flawless...at least until you're done with that sentence?  It's aren't, not arnt.  Anything, not any thing.  English is spelled with a capital E for Christ's sake.  85% of your sentences would fail a 9th grade English writing assignment.  Be critical of anything else, but not English writing.

I tried mine two weeks ago with a variety of shells to get a feel for which spring to use.  There is a significant recoil reduction with all of the high brass loads; however, with low brass, I don't know if the third spring is even engaged (Including your stock spring, there are three springs in the recoil reduction system).  I shot a three gun match on Sunday and used the gun with the recoil reduction system.  The gun ran flawlessly, no issues with chamberring.

I only use my M4 for competition and I only run low brass ammo. The recoil reduction is not significant with low brass. Again, you feel it with high brass shells.

I will put mine up for sale. Ordering from Zahal, it will cost you $134 ($150 and 12% off/free shipping offer) and take 2 months for delivery from Israel (the hold up is through Turkey).

You can have mine for $120, shipped.

Did you modify your gun in order to be able to use only low brass ammo?

You guys are awesome. Your knowledge and wisdom continue to disproportionally contribute to this collective info base. Personally, your contributions to my issue are much appreciated.

I've been eyeing a move to a field stock anyway, maybe I can find someone interested in a straight trade. The aesthetics of the CA-compliant c-stock are admittedly attractive, but I favor function over form.

Thanks again to you both. This thread has single-handedly saved me $350+ in orders I would have placed tonight, not to mention the weapon confiscation or worse I faced by undoubtedly strolling into a local range, stock collapsed, and a right-minded employee or witnessing citizen observing my non-compliant modifications.

*Anyone have any threads saved where a person modified an M4 from c-stock to field stock?

Hey brother...what's the status, did you decide on anything?  Are you looking to trade for a field stock?

  6. I don't think mine is the M-lok version because I've never used that system.   Mine has a QD and I think a pic rail on the other side....here's a copy of my invoice if it tells you anything.  Mine is the .8 version.  Mine is brand new but has been mounted to make sure it fit correctly when I got it...so there are probably some tiny handling marks on it.  Interested?

All signs point to no sadly. I offered to buy 500 at a time and they still declined.

What is so good about them?  Do you have a picture of one?

  8. So I'm assuming this applies to storing pistol mags all the way full?  What a huge relief.  I have like 20 full pistol magazines that haven't been touched in years so I was just about to order magazine spring replacements.

Walked into my local shop over 10 years ago to pick up my M1A, and I’ll never forget the desert camo M4 I saw on the shelf. Big bucks ! Timing wasn’t right for the purchase back then, but I instantly fell in love with it and told myself that I would definitely have one, one day. After all that time, I never forgot about my favorite shotgun and finally was able to pull the trigger on one, earlier this year. Now, thanks to this great forum, I’m doing more modding on this thing than shooting ! An expensive addiction, but only the best for us.

I don't know what it is about this gun that makes us want to modify it so badly, I guess because we can.... When I first got it, I was a total crack fiend and had to try every upgrade.

Haaha!  Cool, I had fun writing it!  My wife read it over my shoulder and busted a gut laughing...especially after I added the movie still to it. ???

We've had our share of close encounters with bears though.....and I do bring the M4 with me when we venture out. Most of the time the bears want nothing to do with us and just trot off into the woods when we meet. Had one get real close to me while I was in my "zone" fishing one time...another fisherman across the bank waves at me and pointed. I turned around and had a griz sitting about 30ft from me. He was probably waiting for me to land a salmon and then steel it from me. This happens often.?

Seeing a bear running at full speed is what freaks me out.  If a bear spots you and his intentions are to get you, you don't have time for much of a reaction.  You can't climb a tree or dig around for bear spray.  Even if I was already holding bear spray in my hand, it just doesn't seem like it's going to be very effective against a 1000lb bear charging you at full speed.  I can see how it might help you if the bear isn't being aggressive and just sniffing around for food or something but you can't help but to think that it might just piss it off even more.  It doesn't even seem like a bullet from a handgun would affect a bear that much unless you hit him in the head or heart or equally debilitating spot.  But luckily it does seem like they're not super aggressive animals all the time unless you're messing with their cubs or something.
