Thanks! Did you buy the buttpad already? If so, which model? I noticed it’s hard to get the buttpad we need lately. I couldn’t find the 10403’s anywhere.

If you have the buttpad, I’d be glad to fit it to your stock. I can usually get a job like that done the next day. Just pay the return shipping.

That would be awesome! I don't have the buttpad yet. I do have a backorder at Midway, they are supposedly getting them back in stock later this week.

Like the saying says: you’re never really done. Swapped the Hayl handguard for the Briley 13” Mlok one. Love this thing! Especially because I can now run my light much further forward. Unlike others have mentioned, mine has absolutely zero wiggle to it. I must have gotten one of the updated ones. Unfortunately I won’t be able to take it out to the range till next week to give a good test run.

How do you like that muzzle brake/compensator? Worth the investment?

What kind of work are you looking to have done? A lot of it you might be able to do yourself.

It's actually to install a Limbsaver on my collapsible stock following the (very helpful) instructions you put together. I'm fine with basic assembly and disassembly, but when it comes to stuff like drilling holes cleanly, I'm out of my depth.

Have you looked at the Intellibeam version of the Scout? M600IB model. It auto gates itself from 100-600 lumens depending on how much light blow back you’re receiving from things like indoor walls. It rapidly changes so fast in output that you barely even notice it.

The m300 and m600 tailcaps are the same. So it will jam your thumb if you’re riding your thumb on the momentary button and fire a 12 gauge round.

I’he been working out a new light mounting solution which uses the 13” Briley rail, an IWC inline MLOK light mount, the light of your choosing mounted far forward on the ejection port side for a right hand shooter so the bezel or the light is flush with the muzzle. Then a Unity Tactical Hot Button is installed which is essentially a push button momentary/on/off button with a 9 inch wire routed to the left side rail roughly where you want your support hand thumb to reach. Slap on rail covers that you like on the MLOK and add a QD angled sling mount to the rail all the way forward at 9 o’clock. You’d have less risk of jamming your thumb, but not completely eliminated.

So, this is really interesting. I was curious about the Briley mount, but it just looks so incredibly heavy. This shotgun is already a beast, so I was wary of adding more weight.

  5. Trying to pick the best light for my new M4. I was originally going to put one of my M600s on an IWC mount. However, this gun will be almost exclusively used for home defense. I've heard issues in terms of thumbs being jammed by the M600s due to recoil and was wondering if the shorter Mini Scout was the ticket. Dont know that you need more than 500 lumens for indoor use, but wanted to get the group's thoughts. Thank you!

I used a Tacstar slimline on my 870 and another hard shell type on my 590. I am not in love with either. I shoot lefty and decided to go with the ESSTAC cards for my M4. It’s a cheap way to try the Velcro out. If it works I can swap to the other guns. I also have a chest rig with Taco’s that can hold them if I need. I figure a reload will look like this. Strip the old card off, pull the new one out of the Taco,  place it on the gun, and reload off the card. Shooting lefty I have to turn the gun over so I would stage my shells accordingly for an upside down reload.

Thanks, this is helpful, I'm a lefty as well and was thinking about that.

I'm a fan of the velcro systems over the hard mounted ones. The velcro ones weigh less and crush flat when not in use. I didn't care for how stiff it was to pull the shells from the Mesa one either.

Thanks StrangerDanger! You seem to be one of the M4 gurus on here. I've noticed that in your pics you dont even run side saddles. Is that right? Any reason in particular?

  8. Hello all. I recently purchased a new M4 with collapsible stock and extended mag tube. Primarily will be using this for fun and home defense/SHTF. Thus far, I've added a GG&G Oversized Bolt Release (stock one feels too small!) and an IWC Light Mount for a Surefire M600. My last planned modification is a side saddle and I've narrowed it to two options:

    • Adding velcro and using shotgun cards (Esstac, SOE, etc.)
    • Mesa Tactical 8 Round Side Saddle

I was leaning towards the former approach, but wanted to get some additional advice. My main goals are reliability and the ability to reverse any modifications relatively easily. Any feedback is appreciated.
