orion2000
A couple yeas ago I purchased a left handed SBE II and I love it. While it is not the exact mirror image of the right handed version that I was expecting, I'm very thankful that Benelli was considerate enough of us lefties to offer it. That said there is one problem that I've had from day one. The carrier doesn't line up perfectly with the underside of the bolt. I have to push it down and OVER to load a round into the magazine tube. If I forget/neglect to push it OVER while trying to load in a hurry (like on openining day of duck season with another group coming in) the round gets stuck half way in the tube...and doesn't easily come back out (especially with gloves on). Any suggestions other than returning it Benelli for repair/rectification?
tucker301
Orion, I had the exact same problem early on with my LH SBEII. Simply remove the trigger group and then bend the tab slightly in the right direction using pliers or a small adjustable wrench. You can tape the pliers to keep them from marring the finish. Reassemble and check for proper fit.
orion2000
Thanks tucker. I'm a little reluctant to do it myself for fear of breaking something. Do you think this is what a gunsmith, or better yet Benelli, would do?
tucker301
If you're not comfortable with it, then don't try it. It only needs to move very small amount. All you do is bend the tab so that the angle more appropriately engages the slot in the bottom of the bolt. The decision is yours.
orion2000
Thanks again. I may give it a try. That would be a lot less time consuming, and expensive, than sending it to Benelli. I have a feeling they would say it isn't covered under warranty since the gunis a couple years old. But I've noticed that every new left hand models my local gun dealers have does the same thing. The right hand models don't have this problem. What gives???
tucker301
I don't know what gives. I just know it's an easy fix.
OldFlick
I have two LH guns, 1999 SBE & a 2005 SBE II they both work perfect.
orion2000
That's great OldFlick! It's good to know that this is not a problem that they've had with every left handed SBE II they've produced. But every one I've put my hands on since buying mine has the same problem to some degree in the left hand models. I haven't seen a righty with the same problem yet.
