General question about brass marking up a reciever

Recommended Posts

For the life of me I cannot remember what I used on my AR to remove the small marks from cases hitting the reciever. I tossed it when I decided to sell my M&P15 and now need some for my MR1 and occasionally my M2T.

So long story short what works the best and is safe to use to remove brass marks?

Thanks

Hey Cody - I use Hoppes BenchRest - works like a charm. I get the brass kisses on my Troy MCS and M1A oprod. I just coat the marks with the BenchRest, then go about cleaning my gun. When I'm done, (or longer - even overnight if needed), I simply use a microfiber cloth to wipe the marks away...

I use an FBC. Comes right off. Usually put a dab on the deflector and shot it doen the bore and after I let it set 15m I wiped the deflector off and it was G2G. CLP will do it overnight.

FBC?

Hookster

My acronym skills aren't what they used to be, so I'm going to take a stab at it: Foaming Bore Cleaner? If that's it, it should work, as there's copper solvent in it. I like BenchRest because that's all that's in it.
