Has anyone cut down an M1 field barrel?

I wanted to know if anyone has cut down an M1 field barrel to use as a cylinder bore defense barrel.

If so, did you encounter any problems? Benelli doesn't make a barrel shorter than 24" for the M1 20 ga, only 24" field and fully rifled barrels. I want to use the M1 20 ga as a defense gun. Any opinions?

Check local and state laws to be sure you're in compliance, then hack away.

Other than the obvious issues of not being able to use choke tubes, cutting it on the end of a rib support, and generally making a mess of it, there should be not problems.
