meh92
Regarding my older Montefeltro 12ga (Item #10800): I read elsewhere that the "Letter" barrel code determines the year of manufacture for the gun. My barrel code is "BL," which seems to place it at 1998. There is a 7-digit alpha-numeric code roll-stamped on the opposite side of the barrel (C478XXX). It does not come close to matching the receiver's serial number (M333XXX). The gun's cardboard box states that that the gun has "matte metal finish." The receiver is matte, but the barrel is polished. The actual barrel does match the length stated on the box, which is 28". Is this normal or do I have a replacement barrel? Thanks
hattles
It sounds like you have may have a replacement barrel. I don't believe the barrel would have the serial number of the reciever stamped on it.
meh92
I contacted Benelli today and found out that the barrel s/n and the receiver s/n should not match. I have also seen a bunch of pictures of older Monte's and it appears that they have polished barrels, just like mine. I'm satisfied mine is all original. hattles
Good to know. I've owned two Montes and both had polished blued barrels.
