M1/M2 Tactical barrel Question

On the M1 and M2 Tactical there are open sights.The rear sight is mounted on the barrel just ahead of the receiver and the front sight is a triangle shaped blade. (See M2 Tactical photo on this site)

My question is how is this front sight attached to the barrel? Is it threaded on like a bead?

I think mine is silver soldered, brazed, or welded on. Don't see any means for threading.

I can't tell how my front sight is attached, but thank you for asking. Because of your post I took a close look at both front and rear sights.

 

I found the sight blade on my rear sight has worked loose. It will be easy to tighten, two small allen set screws.

 

Does anyone know what size allen wrench is needed for those two small screws?

OK. No trying the lefty loosie trick on the front sight.
