antonis
Here is the deal, when I first dismantled the Gas Pistons, I saw that there was some grease on both of the O-Rings. Not on the pistons, on the rubber O-Rings. My M4 Supplier (merchant), said NOT to lubricate/grease the tubes OR the O-Rings at all. The manual says: according to the ammunition type used, periodically dismantle and clean the gas cylinders and gas cylinder pistons. NB: the gas system must not be lubricated. However there is no word on the O-Rings which from factory had grease. Shall I apply grease on the rings or not?
Unobtanium
I lube the gas system. It makes things messy and smokey and I don't care. That said, there is no real reason to. However, applying some lube (CLP, grease, snot) to the O-ring will greatly reduce your chance of tearing it when re-installing the caps. I would do that, if nothing else.
