M4 reassembly Issue

Dear all, I am relatively new to guns and looking for help with a reassembly Issue. I disassembled and cleaned my gun after the first shot.

But the position of the magazine limiter after reassembly seems to be shorter than before, uncoated areas are visible after assembly.

Is this normal or something went wrong during iassembly? Thanks?

Check to make sure the barrel is fully seated against the receiver.  That side of the weapon doesn’t tell you very much.  You want it snuggled down tight is all.

If it’s further out than it was before you’ll see a gap at the receiver.

Thanks Ben, but it’s further in than it was. That's weird. Are there any components like spacers between them?

You may have not had it seated all the way for your first shot then.  No spacers.
