Inner choke diameter

It seems like the inside of the choke for my M4 has a wider diameter than the barrel where they interact.
Has anyone else noticed this?

Normal. The “skirt” of the choke tube is beveled or funneled to make sure the projectile does not hang on the choke tube and shoot it out of the muzzle.
