Gfarm Posted August 14, 2024 Posted August 14, 2024 Ive got a Benelli M4 entry shotgun that I was going to try and sell. I was told that if I separate the barrel and receiver, I could part it out without having to buy another tax stamp. My question is, What is a reasonable price to ask for each part, since I cannot find any listed to get a ballpark idea of what to ask ? Hopefully someone here will know this info. Any ideas ? My entry has around 25 rounds of 00 buck through it, its very clean. Thank you Quote
mr2jeff Posted August 14, 2024 Posted August 14, 2024 I was curious about the process of that as well, looking at entry's! Quote
REZARF2 Posted August 17, 2024 Posted August 17, 2024 I think the barrels are expensive in general I’ve seen entry barrels go for $800+ Collapsible stocks go for $400 ish and everything else is M4 prices. I’ve never thought about parting out a NFA item it’s an interesting idea. I’m curious how this process works out for you Quote
danbrew Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 Yes, you could do this. For a SBR or SBS, you could remove it from the SBR or SBS configuration and then just sell the parts. That’s all they are - parts. You wouldn’t want to sell it to them to the same person as that would go to constructive possession. For just about every single SBR or SBS out there, I’d tell you that it would be a waste of time. Having said that, the M4 components are pretty hard to find and you probably could get decent money - at least on the barrel. I think I paid $800 for mine. So… what’s a fair price? While I paid $800 for mine, I’ve seen them sell for stupid money - $1500. I’ve also seen them go for a lot less than $800. Bottom line, there’s a market for your entry barrel. I don’t know what kind of coin you’d get for the receiver - you’d have to find somebody that wants a receiver and all the rest. In fact, now that I think about it, I might be tempted to buy everything *other* than the barrel. Why? Because I took a barrel off an M4 to make my SBS so I got a barrel hanging around. So… considering that I could buy a brand new M4 LE shotgun for about $1800, and the 18.5” barrel is about $650 from Benelli, that works out to be $1150 for everything but the barrel. And, uh, in my case, if I’m buying a used gun, despite how little it was used, my starting point is 60% of what I can find it for elsewhere. So… that’s what, $700 or so for everything but the barrel? And that’s a big if - am I gonna have to spend money to get the tube extension? It wouldn’t take much for me to say, “Meh, maybe I’ll just spend $1800 and get a new one…” Bottom line, you’re gonna have to find the right two people to buy your stuff. Or you could just buy a used 18.5 barrel and put it in Title I configuration and sell the complete gun for $1000-1500 or so. And then sell the short barrel to somebody. 1 Quote

It's the size of the shell used, not all shot shells are the same length from different manufacturers; there are a few threads on this subject. 1 Quote
