Hey Guys, just interested to find out what you guys most commonly use for quail hunting in the U.S? in australia we use over and under 12g shoties (not allowed to use a bigger gauge on quail). anyway any comments appreciated

i like to use a 20 gauge with a modified choke this way i can let the little buggers get a little farther away from the dog before i blast em. (doc aint too steady)

Thats totally fair enough. Do people commonly use the 12g over there? i heard from a guy at a club a couple of weeks ago that you guys over there use single barrels quite alot aswell.. anyway thanks for the reply

i used to use a 12 all the time but i got tired of lugging it around all the time. my 20 is lighter and faster to use than my 12 its also a lot less punnishing on me. i like to shoot a lot of skeet and 200 rounds through a 20 is a lot less ouch than an 12. as for single bbls i have a .410 that i like to plink with but for the most part every one that i hunt with uses auto loaders im the odd man out with the o/u. they think im snootie but i can snap off 2 shots while there still waiting for there guns to cycle.
